SuperCoach AFL 2024: Biggest winners and losers from round 24

Who stood up on the biggest SuperCoach stage and who disappointed when it counted most? Check out round 24’s heroes and villains – and some hot tips for 2025.

And that’s a wrap for 2024.

One of the craziest SuperCoach seasons ever ended with some huge scores, and some surprise flops.

Who stood up and who flopped on grand final weekend? Scroll down for our final winners and losers of the season – and a few tips for 2025.

SUPERCOACH WINNERS

NICK DAICOS – 186 POINTS

Never question the SuperCoach maestro. Simon Goodwin opted not to send Alex Neal-Bullen to Daicos, and may have regretted it after a brilliant 40-disposal game that gave him a season average of 117.2 and possibly a Brownlow medal.

LACHIE NEALE – 166 POINTS

Playing at the Gabba with no tag is a recipe for a huge Lachie Neale score. He delivered with 40 disposals, 19 contested possessions, seven marks and a goal.

SAM FLANDERS – 161 POINTS

Damien Hardwick’s surprising decision to station Flanders in the forward line in the final three rounds was vindicated when he had a direct hand in the five of the Suns’ first six goals against Richmond, including kicking two himself.

JEREMY CAMERON – 143 POINTS

Key forwards playing bottom teams in the final round are a traditional SuperCoach goldmine, and this year Cameron was the one who struck gold - not a huge shock, to be fair, when the Eagles travelled down the highway without Tom Barrass or Jeremy McGovern. It was obvious from the opening minutes that Jezza was on, kicking the first two goals of the game and finishing with nine.

MASSIMO D’AMBROSIO – 134 POINTS

The SuperCoach finals specialist finished the year in a blaze of glory, scoring 110, 100, 110 and 134 in the final four rounds of the season.

NOAH ANDERSON – 128 POINTS

Anderson has now played Richmond five times in his career, and his lowest score in those games is 122 (in round zero this year). Jack Graham tried to run with him on Saturday but couldn’t slow down the Suns flyer, even at the MCG.

DYSON HEPPELL – 116 POINTS

The former skipper went out in style with 34 disposals (29 on target) and a game-high 12 intercepts.

WILL ASHCROFT – 115 POINTS

Put this name in your SuperCoach black book for 2025. Ashcroft missed the first 15 rounds with an ACL injury and took a little while to find his feet after returning. But scores of 129, 92 and 115 in his past three games are what we should expect next season - at a very reasonable price.

BRODIE GRUNDY – 110 POINTS

Broke a run of five games under 100 with a strong performance to finish the season for his 86,000 owners.

JACK HUTCHINSON – 102 POINTS

The ultimate grand final cameo from the West Coast forward, who was unexpectedly recalled for the final round and even more unexpectedly thrown into the midfield against the Cats. After averaging six disposals in his first six games he racked up 24 and a goal. Those points became even more valuable when Isaac Heeney was a late out on Saturday night.

SHAUN MANNAGH -– 90 POINTS

A more conventional bench cover option, Mannagh delivered when his owners needed him with his third-best score in his 10th AFL game. After returning to the side in round 17 he has played the last eight straight, averaging 83 SuperCoach points.

SUPERCOACH LOSERS

TOM GREEN – 96 POINTS

Not a terrible score but it could have been much higher if not for efficiency issues that have dogged Green all year. Of his 37 disposals, only 19 hit the target. If he can tidy that up next year, he could be a must-have after averaging 116 over his final six games.

CONNOR ROZEE – 84 POINTS

After shooting the lights out with a 168-point game against the Bulldogs in round 17, Rozee didn’t get close to those heights over the last seven rounds with a high score of 113 and just 19 disposals on grand final weekend.

JYE CALDWELL – 53 POINTS

Has been one of the best picks of the second half of the season but had a surprise flop against the Lions, giving away three free kicks and registering just seven kicks among his 21 disposals.

TOM STEWART – 33 POINTS

The Cats did as they pleased against West Coast, and for Stewart it seems that wasn’t much as he was subbed off to stay fresh for more important games to come.

MARTY HORE – 28 POINTS

Provided amazing bench cover last week with a SuperCoach ton. This week, not so much.

BRYNN TEAKLE – 18 POINTS

Played the entire match against Hawthorn for one kick and one handball. Is in the team to provide ruck support for Tristan Xerri but he attended nine ruck contests for the day compared to Xerri’s 100, so we can’t really blame him for not touching the ball much.

ISAAC HEENEY – DNP

Has been one of the heroes of SuperCoach 2024 but his late withdrawal left plenty of coaches high and dry when it mattered most.
