WINNERS
TRISTAN XERRI – 185 POINTS
We’re calling it – Xerri is the pick of the SuperCoach season. His past three weeks have produced scores of 151, 144 and 185 points - an enormous head start if you had the captaincy or vice-captaincy on him. The remarkable thing is Xerri had only five hitouts to advantage against the Eagles, but piled on the points with 30 disposals and 12 tackles.
MAX GAWN – 177 POINTS
The champ isn’t giving up his title as the No.1 ruckman in SuperCoach without a fight. At times he looked like he could barely move with his leg injury, but he still found a way to attend 52 ruck contests and win 22 disposals, 30 hitouts, 15 contested possessions and seven free kicks.
CHAD WARNER – 164 POINTS
Fortune favours the brave. A total of 113 coaches traded in Warner last week at the bargain price of $460k - and with a three-round average of 68. But he was enormous against the Magpies with 33 disposals and two goals.
LUKE RYAN – 156 POINTS
Reports of his demise were, it turns out, greatly exaggerated. After a four-week stretch when he failed to crack 100 points, he has returned to the stratospheric heights of the first half of the season the past two rounds. Last week against Essendon it was 126 points, this week he went nuclear with 36 touches and 15 marks.
COLBY McKERCHER – 146 POINTS
There always seems to be an injury cloud over the Kangaroos young gun, but when he plays - he scores. Thirty-seven disposals at 89 per cent efficiency for the No.2 draft pick. He’ll be an interesting selection option for 2025.
ISAAC HEENEY – 144 POINTS
At three quarter-time Heeney’s dry spell looked like it would continue - then he produced a quarter for the ages. With SuperCoach points at a premium, Heeney had 14 disposals, three clearances and a goal to lift the Swans off the canvas.
TOM POWELL – 123 POINTS
He’s also back. A hugely popular mid-price pick early in the season, Powell lost his role and was jettisoned from most SuperCoach teams. But he’s hit triple figures three weeks in a row, with his return on Saturday his best since round 2.
JAMES PEATLING – 100 POINTS
Job security has always been the worry for Peatling, who has shown he can find the ball when given a full run at it. After being used as the sub from rounds 15-18 (scoring 20, 11 and 14) he has peeled off an excellent month - 93, 133, 96, 100. Well played if you were brave enough to pick him.
LOSERS
LACHIE NEALE – 87 POINTS
As expected, Neale copped the Toby Bedford tag, and battled to halftime with just nine disposals. He found it 15 times in the second half to post an almost respectable score, but he now has an average of 96 over his past four - a big drop from his 145 average the previous month.
LUKE JACKSON – 81 POINTS
News Sean Darcy was a late out had Jackson owners licking their lips. But for once playing as a solo ruck didn’t translate to a huge score, with Justin Longmuir trolling SuperCoaches by using Patrick Voss in the ruck in the tense final term.
TOM STEWART – 76 POINTS
Stewart has had a great run, scoring 105 or more in every game since round 17. But it came to an end with just 19 touches and four contested possessions in the huge win against Fremantle.
NICK DAICOS – 66 POINTS
Collingwood’s season is falling off a cliff and not even the great Nick Daicos can save it. He found the footy 25 times but just 13 of those hit the target and he took zero marks. Daicos has scored 16 SuperCoach tons this season but that’s his third score under 70, proving he is human after all.
JYE CALDWELL – 55 POINTS
A surprise stinker from one of the most consistent players in the comp - before Saturday he hadn’t scored under 80 since round 8. He kicked a goal against the Suns but had just three contested possessions and two tackles.
BAILEY DALE – 45 POINTS
Terrible timing for the Dogs’ distributor to drop his worst score of the year apart from the day he started as the sub in round 5. His 14 disposals was 11 below his season average.
CLAYTON OLIVER -– 38 POINTS
Will we pick Oliver at a bargain price at 2025? That’s a question for another day, but he’ll be a huge watch over pre-season after a nightmare season that has included just five SuperCoach scores over 100. This was a season-low from just six effective disposals - all deep in Melbourne’s defence.
ALEX SEXTON – 36 POINTS
Sexton’s return to the Suns team has saved some SuperCoach teams from a dreaded doughnut, but this isn’t a whole lot better. He played 75 per cent of game time in defence but managed just eight disposals and two contested possessions.
CHARLIE CURNOW – 17 POINTS
His halftime stat line read two disposals and two frees against. Then things went from bad to much, much worse when he was helped from the field with an ankle injury that ruled him out for the day - and puts the rest of his home-and-away season in huge doubt. Coaches didn’t think it could get worse after a 33 last week ...
JOE RICHARDS – 0 POINTS
Became the latest sub to be activated in a game when he came on with 32 minutes and 55 seconds gone in the fourth quarter against Sydney. The siren went one minute and 11 seconds later.
