IT was a case of young talent time on show for Melbourne in its JLT Community Series clash against Carlton.

The club’s top four Supercoach scorers were all part of the club’s young core, providing plenty of encouraging signs for the future.

Leading the pack was midfield star Christian Petracca who posted a game high 136 points.

At $395,600 Petracca is an interesting proposition this season. He has always been able to win plenty of ball but on Saturday he snuck forward and kicked four goals.

SUPERCOACH 2017: RICHMOND, ADELAIDE SCORES

If he can spend more time around the big sticks in 2017, he could be worth a run in your midfield.

Speaking of forwards, Jesse Hogan ($417,600) owned the 50 metre arc — something we might not be saying for the last time this year.

Hogan scored a whopping 127 points and even pushed up the ground at times.

Adding to Melbourne’s midfield firepower were Clayton Oliver ($382,500) and Jack Viney ($527,500) who both broke the three figure barrier.

But it wasn’t just the youngsters who got amongst the points in the club’s big win.

A couple of wise heads were also impressive. Jordan Lewis ($540,600) scored 99 but his price tag is pretty high. Coming off 12 months out of the game, Jake Melksham ($298,200) scored 98.

For Carlton, it didn’t take long to identify a good cash cow.

Kym LeBois looks a lively forward and after kicking one of the early goals of the year, could be worth selecting at a small price of $123,400.

Caleb Marchbank ($236,100) was also impressive with 76 points.

At the top end for the Blues, Matthew Wright was the only player to break the 100 point barrier while Bryce Gibbs ($577,200) scored 99.

Daniel Gorringe ($275,300) left the ground with a leg injury.

Meanwhile, in the JLT derby clash between West Coast and Fremantle, you can take your pick of just about any Eagle as having a standout game.

While Josh Kennedy ($532,200) and Mark LeCras ($428,600) hit the scoreboard, it is hard to go past Sam Mitchell ($568,000) for eye opening performances.

Mitchell showed he will take no time to settle into his new home and was clearly among the Eagles’ best players on Saturday.

He scored 108 while fellow midfield guns Luke Shuey ($574,500) and Matt Priddis ($593,800) also topped the 100 barrier.

Meanwhile, at just $318,300 - Lewis Jetta is one to keep an eye on in the lead up to round 1. After a horror 2016, Jetta looks fresh and ready to bounce back this year.

Meanwhile, in his first game back from missing most of last year with injury, Nat Fyfe wasted no time getting into the action.

He top scored for the Dockers with 93 points.

It was a dirty night on the scoreboard and it was also a tough SuperCoach scoring night for the Dockers.

Only three players scored above 60.
