What will we do with no KFC SuperCoach for at least the next two months?

With no week-to-week SuperCoach action, we are going to re-live the best – and the worst -SuperCoach performances from that respective round in history.

There are sure to be a host of classic names that will give you your footy and SuperCoach nostalgia fix.

Check out of the chart topping Round 3 scores from the archives.

BEST ROUND 3 SCORES

Gary Ablett Jnr was a KFC SuperCoach God for the better part of a decade, and if you had him captain in Round 3 of 2012 or 2014, you would have been praising the lord.

The little master has generated the two greatest Round 3 SuperCoach scores in the current scoring system, where the cumulative score of all 44 players equates to 3300, eclipsing the 180-mark not once, but twice.

The champion dominated every facet of the match in Gold Coast’s 2014 Q-Clash triumph over the Lions, finishing with 38 disposals, 19 contested possessions, 10 tackles, three goals and 182 SuperCoach points - his nine clangers denying him the chance to raise the bat for a SuperCoach double ton.

Ablett’s 181-point outing against the Bombers in Round 3, 2012 was arguably better, tallying 45 possessions, 13 clearances, nine inside 50s, seven tackles, two goals and three Brownlow votes in a losing side.

The second highest total from the third round came last year from Brisbane ball-magnet Lachie Neale (180 points). In just his third game for his new club, Neale went to town on Port Adelaide, racking up 43 touches, 25 contested possessions and a whopping 16 clearances.

In equal fourth place in the Round 3 stakes sit Brendon Goddard, Brent Harvey and Leigh Montagna who all amassed 178-point totals.

Dual Norm Smith medallist Luke Hodge (177), a young Adam Treloar (177), recently retired Saint David Armitage (176) and former Power great Chad Cornes (175) complete the top-10.

Interestingly, Cornes posted three scores above 128 in the first four rounds of 2008, including that 175-point total, but averaged just 89.5 in his 13 matches that season.

OUT-OF-THE-BOX ROUND 3 SCORE

Shane Mumford (GWS Giants) – 166 points vs Melbourne (Round 3, 2014)

We forget that Shane Mumford was once a SuperCoach force, but it was the circumstances surrounding Mumford’s monster score that make this it even more surprising. Mummy pulverised Demons ruckman Jake Spencer in Round 3 of 2014, registering 60-hitouts, 16 hit-outs-to-advantage, 10 disposals, nine tackles and 166 points. After this rousing performance, Mumford then missed the next five matches due to injury. To the detriment to those who held onto him, his return game in Round 10 yielded just 40 points - against Richmond ruck duo Shaun Hampson and Tyrone Vickery.

WORST ROUND 3 SCORE

Eric Hipwood (Brisbane) – 1 point vs St Kilda (Round 3, 2017)

Young key position forwards aren’t noted SuperCoach scorers and we hope very few teams took the punt on Eric Hipwood in his second year. In his 13th game, Hipwood wasn’t given an inch by St Kilda defenders Jake Carlisle and Nathan Brown, finishing with just two disposals, one tackle and one hitout for the game despite spending 85 per cent of time on the ground. The result was a solitary SuperCoach point for the match.
