It would be a one-two punch for the ages.

But how much money is too much money to spend on the best rucks in the competition?

That is the question all SuperCoaches must ask themselves following the release of the top 10 most expensive players for 2019.

Sitting atop of the tree is Collingwood superstar Brodie Grundy, who will cost a whopping $708,200.

And when it comes to Grundy, you get what you pay for.

The Magpie owned his rival ruckmen in 2018, finishing the season with the most individual points of any player in the competition.

At no stage during the year did he score less than 95 points in a match, which is the sort of consistency you can’t put a price on.

But why stop at one superstar ruckman?

It will cost a monstrous $1,400,300 — but pairing Grundy with Melbourne star Max Gawn has to be considered.

Gawn comes in at No. 3 on the list, with his price tag showing $692,100.

If Grundy and Gawn both play to their 2018 averages, it will mean 258 points in the bank each week, before assigning the ‘captain’ tag to either of them.

Meanwhile, he may have been overlooked by Champion Data’s midfield rankings but the SuperCoach money men haven’t missed Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell.

After averaging 129.1 in 2018, Mitchell will start the new year as the second most expensive player in the competition, coming in at $700,800.

While it is a high price to pay, Mitchell showed last season that when he goes big … he goes really BIG!

During a golden patch between rounds 15 and 20, the Brownlow Medal winner posted scores of 181, 159, 192, 150 and 153.

Bulldog Jack Macrae is fourth on the list at $689,700.

Meanwhile, fresh off being handed dual-position status for 2019, Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield’s price-tag will be of great interest to coaches everywhere.

The versatile Cat will cost $660,500 and will be money well spent.
