GRUNDY GOES LARGE
The ruckman says he is loving his footy at his third club, and it showed as he celebrated his 200th game in style. His teammates ran from everywhere after he kicked his first goal in Swans colours, which capped off a massive game against Sun Jarrod Witts – one of the hardest rucks to score against in the competition. Hope you didn’t trade Grundy out on Sydney’s bye.
SUB RULE STRIKES AGAIN
Cash generation is becoming an issue with rookies copping the sub vest again in round 6, and one of the most popular mid-pricers in SuperCoach fell victim on Sunday. Massimo D’Ambrosio features in more than 101,000 teams, and he had 51 points to his name when Sam Mitchell took him out of the game as a tactical move. Sam, please.
ROOS ROOKIES FLOP
Colby McKercher entered the game with a Break Even of 101 following his injury-affected score last week. That was always a long shot but a final tally of 36 will send his value plummetting. Charlie Comben took three big intercept marks early but he finished the game at full-forward and logged 57 points. And second-gamers Bigoa Nuyon (46) and Blake Drury (39) also failed to fire.
Recap all the Super Sunday action and analysis below.
6:50pm: FULL-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Hawthorn has its first win of 2024 after breaking clear in the second term and holding the Roos at arm’s length for the rest of the afternoon.
Huge game from Tristan Xerri and just a standard 110 from Harry Sheezel.
6:14pm: THREE QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Hawthorn holds a comfortable lead after an entertaining third term.
The Roos rookies have lifted somewhat – Bigoa Nyon has 37 points, Blake Drury 27 and Colby McKercher 21.
6:10pm: LARKEY CLEANS UP MAGINNESS
Does Nick Larkey have a case to answer? He absolutely clobbered Finn Maginness in a marking contest near the boundary line.

6:08pm: BREAKING MRO NEWS
Toby Greene has been handed a one-match ban for his collision with Carlton’s Jordan Boyd.
Teammate Jesse Hogan and Eagles defender Tom Barrass were also offered one-match bans for incidents in round 6.
6:00pm: HAWKS SUB ACTIVATED
Sam Mitchell has pulled the trigger on his sub – and it’s a disaster for more than 101,000 SuperCoaches.
Massimo D’Ambrosio has been subbed out for tactical reasons with 51 SuperCoach points to his name. Henry Hustwaite is into the action.
Thankfully D’Ambrosio beat his 34 Break Even but his cash generation will dry up quickly, along with a number of popular rookies who fell victim to the sub rule this weekend.
5:55pm: ROOS SUB ACTIVATED
North Melbourne sub Charlie Lazzaro is on the field, replacing Eddie Ford (hip).
5:52pm: COMBEN ROLE CHANGE?
Charlie Comben, who started on fire with three big intercept marks deep in defence, is being used on the ball and up forward at times in the third quarter. Not sure that’s great for his SuperCoach output.
He currently sits on 43 SuperCoach points.
5:22pm: HALFTIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Some big scores on the Hawthorn side of the ledger as the Hawks open up a 37-point lead at the main break.
Tristan Xerri and Harry Sheezel are flying the flag for North Melbourne.
5:14PM: MEEK FROM DOWNTOWN
How about this from Hawks big man Lloyd Meek.
It lifts his SuperCoach score to 48 points.
Meek sends it all the way from inside the centre square!

5:05pm: ROOKIE WATCH
There was a big watch coming into this game on Kangaroos pair Bigoa Nyuon and Blake Drury, who will both be on the bubble this week.
Neither is scraming ‘pick me’ based on their performances so far.
Drury just bounced through his first goal to lift his SuperCoach score to 11, while Nyuon is just ahead of him on 14.
Boom youngster Colby McKercher has -4 SuperCoach points nearing halftime.
5:01pm: RAINING GOALS
The Hawks pile on two more, making it eight in a row for a 39-point lead.
Hawthorn’s pressure has gone through the roof, recording a pressure rating of 257 – almost unheard-of levels – in the second term.
4:55pm: HAWKS MAKE THEIR MOVE
Josh Weddle dobs a flying shot from well outside 50 that survives a score review, and Dylan Moore follows up with his second to open up a 28-point lead.
James Sicily has the most SuperCoach points on the ground with 51, just ahead of Harry Sheezel (47) but it’s a slow start from Tom Powell (19).

4:40pm: QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Big start for Aidan Corr’s 155 SuperCoach owners. Business as usual for Harry Sheezel with 10 disposals – and no Finn Maginness tag.
4.10pm: COMBEN MAKING WAVES IN THE AIR
Charlie Comben has rewarded everyone who brought him in this week with two huge intercept marks in the opening two minutes of play to rocket to 14 points early doors. Eddie Ford has the first goal on the board for the Roos.
Harry Sheezel catched Jack Ginnivan holding the ball after some conjecture about if he should have been awarded a high tackle.
4:05pm: ROOS, HAWKS CHASE FIRST WIN
We’re away at Marvel Stadium where North Melbourne and Hawthorn are hoping to record their first win since August last year.
Hawthorn has the first inside-50 of the match and Charlie Comben takes a big intercept mark.
3:40pm: FULL-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Sydney has blown Gold Coast away at the SCG to win by 53 points.
A massive day for Brodie Grundy in his 200th game, scoring a game-high 161 SuperCoach points, including a game-high 11 tackles.
“I’m just having fun, loving my footy,” Grundy tells Nick Dal Santo on Fox Footy after the siren.
He jokes that was “cooked” when he slotted his goal in the final quarter.
Sam Clohesy finished with 74 points, enough for a huge price rise when SuperCoach lockout opens later tonight, but he will fall just short of Errol Gulden’s all-time record.
3:19pm: GRUNDY LAUNCHES!
Brodie Grundy has his first goal as a Swan and his teammates get around him.
He takes a juggled contested mark against Jarrod Witts and follows up with a flying set shot from 45m.
Grundy now has 129 SuperCoach points – Matt Rowell (107) is the only other player in triple figures.

3:15pm: FINAL TEAMS FOR ROOS v HAWKS
There are no late changes for the last game of the round.
Charlie Lazarro is North Melbourne’s sub, while Henry Hustwaite will start as Hawthorn’s sub.
3:10pm: THREE QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
A seven-goal to two quarter puts Sydney on track for victory.
A big story here is the arrival of Matt Roberts. The 13-gamer has been fantastic again today and is set to deliver another huge price rise for his 82,000 SuperCoach owners.
3:00pm: PAPLEY’S CLASSIC CATCH
No one can get the SCG crowd up and about like Tom Papley. The SCG has seen plenty of great slips catches but this is right up there!

2:53pm: FLANDERS’ COSTLY CLANGERS
A bad couple of minutes for Sam Flanders who was caught holding the ball, costing Gold Coast a goal, then gave away a 50m penalty – the costliest act in SuperCoach.
Flanders knocked the ball out of Sam Wicks’ arm after an easy lead-up mark on the wing and the umpire brings him to 30m out, and he makes no mistake.
Flanders has a game-high 22 disposals and could have a lot more than his 72 SuperCoach points.
2:50pm: ROOKIE RECORD WATCH
Sam Clohesy needs to get a motor on to beat Errol Gulden’s all-time record for the highest price rise in SuperCoach.
Clohesy needs to score 98 or more points today to beat the Sydney’s star’s $123,800 price rise after his third game in 2021.
The mature-age Suns rookie started brightly but has slowed up and has 57 points halfway through the third term.
The Suns have lifted here but Sydney is answering the challenge.
2:25pm: HALFTIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
A very different second quarter with the Suns working their way back into the contest, and Isaac Heeney slowing to mere mortal levels.
2:00pm: GRUNDY REWARDS FAITH
More than 17,000 SuperCoaches traded out Brodie Grundy over Sydney’s bye. This game could be tough viewing especially after poor scores from, popular replacements Tim English and Rowan Marshall over the past two rounds.
Midway through the second quarter Grundy has 10 disposals, seven tackles, 15 hitouts and a game-high 72 SuperCoach points.
1:40pm: QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Sydney could be further in front after winning the inside-50 count 19-7 in the first term.
Sam Flanders (11) has the most disposals on the ground followed by Taylor Adams (10).
1:25pm: SAM STEPS UP
The Swans are all over Gold Coast early but the Suns have their first goal, from guess who – super SuperCoach rookie Sam Clohesy.
He needs a score of 98 or more to break Errol Gulden’s record for the highest price rise in SuperCoach history, and he’s off to a good start with 29 points late in the first term.
Brodie Grundy (35) and Isaac Heeney (29) are running hot for Sydney.
This is Sam Clohesy's third AFL game ð¤¯#AFLSwansSunspic.twitter.com/BFzbR0aHPk

1:15pm: SWANS’ HOT START
Isaac Heeney is on the board and Damien Hardwick might be looking for the panic button.
The Swans lead inside-50s 7-0 and the ball is yet to enter Gold Coast’s forward half.
1:08pm: PARTY TIME EARLY
Joel Amartey has the first goal of the game for the Swans after a passage of play set up by a Nick Blakey intercept mark and a spearing Isaac Heeney pass. He’s going head to head with Noah Anderson in the centre square.
James Rowbottom is running with Matt Rowell.
1:02pm: SOLEMN MOMENT
Players and coaches from both teams line up for a minute’s silence in memory of the victims of the terrible events at Bondi last week.
12:10pm: FINAL TEAMS
The team sheets are in and there are no late changes for the Swans or Suns.
Braeden Campbell will start as Sydney’s sub. Veteran David Swallow is Gold Coast’s starting sub.
