Nat Fyfe is back, big time.

With a score of 119 and that vintage look about him, he has catapulted to the top of many SuperCoaches shopping lists. If you’ve missed out on his midfield counterpart Caleb Serong, he remains at only $398,800 and is building into the season as the weeks tick on by.

Speaking of being back, cue Jordan Dawson.

Despite a favourable matchup against North Melbourne, Dawson quelled any doubts about how Crouch’s return may impact his return to form. One of the easiest ways to be successful as a SuperCoacher is to pounce on premiums who have seen a dip in price, and Dawson is no different. His efficiency sat at 67%, with 24 of his 27 disposals coming from kicks - he’s back, alright. At $533,600, you must try to find room for him in your side.

Lesson number three: Harry McKay.

There may be some personal bias to this call, but he too is pressing his case for a top six forward position. Breaking the ton once again, his work around the ground boosts his score even without his ruck cameos.

93 points, two goals, 14 kicks and ten marks.

Some small tweaks in his game are all that’s required to see his average lift even higher than 104.7 - watch this space, SuperCoaches.

Scroll down to recap all the action and analysis.

FT: SuperCoach Analysis

Freo, way to go! Not only have they clinched a top eight position, but they had seven players break the SuperCoach ton.

Nate Fyfe was prolific with 37 disposals, 18 contested possessions and a goal to record 119 and stake his claim for the F1 position.

Debutants Pat Voss (59) and Cooper Simpson (57) were impactful in the victory, while popular rookie selection Sam Darcy rewarded those who fielded him with a score of 88.

Luke Jackson leaves SuperCoaches with a dilemma on their hands, scoring only 75 despite kicking two goals.

Caleb Serong had a whopping 17 clearances and from 37 disposals, recording a game-high 140 SuperCoach points, while Tim English bounced back from a down week to score 134.

Bailey Dale backed up a strong performance last week with 132 SuperCoach points, kicking two goals and continuing as one of the most prolific Dogs on the field after his stint as the substitute two weeks ago.

SuperCoach Leaders:

Caleb Serong - 140

Tim English - 134

Bailey Dale - 132

James Aish - 122

Nat Fyfe - 119

10.13PM: BACK TO BACK

BANFIELD DOES IT AGAIN. Back to back, and he’s left the Dogs without a sniff ...

Michael Walters provides the icing on the cake, kicking accurately to propel the Dockers back into the top eight.

10.08PM: BANFIELD BREAKS THE ICE

Fremantle have got their run back, and this time, Banfield is the beneficary. Both teams have faced goal kicking woes within this contest, but his conversion hands them a two goal lead.

There’s now under three minutes to go, so the Bulldogs will need to rely on the old goal a minute adage ... can they trade in and fly Blake Acres over somehow? No? Okay ...

10:06PM: BONT’S TRAPPED

Look away, Bont owners ... he’s up to 93 points now, but has been stuck on the bench for seven minutes. Luckily, he’s back into the centre bounce with four minutes to go. Can he break the ton?

9.59PM: WHERE’S RYAN?

Okay, that might be a bit harsh.

But, all scores over 110 for Luke Ryan until last week, and he sits on 83 points at the moment. There is still eight minutes to play - can he reward the masses who traded him in?

At the moment, he’s being overshadowed by James Aish, who is owned by only 1,066 coaches.

Also, I’ll just add again .. scaling, here we come!

9.54PM: BONT FIGHTS BACK

Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and we all know Bont will never give up on his troops. Instrumental in their last two goals, and in the midst of creating another opportunity as I write this, Fremantle will have to try their hand at keeping him out of the contest if they want to stop them from fighting back.

3QT: SuperCoach Analysis

SuperCoach wise, it’s all Fremantle. Their stars have began to rack up possessions like it’s no tomorrow off the back of strong ruck work from Sean Darcy, who is working his way into the season nicely.

Popular pick Hayden Young has risen to 73 points, but his fellow SuperCoach fan favourite Jeremy Sharp, owned by 74,873 coaches, sits on a meagre 31.

He is not very SuperCoach relevant, but Liam Jones has been a pillar down back - I suppose he could be relevant, due to the opportunities he’s taken away from some of our most-watched Dockers.

Score Leaders:

Nat Fyfe - 111

Caleb Serong - 108

Andy Brayshaw - 105

James Aish - 91

Sean Darcy - 88

9.40PM: SAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

That one is courtesy of Tim, who is relying on Darcy to hold his forward line together ... as am I.

Three goals and six marks to his name and the second highest scorer for the Dogs behind Dale.

After they left plenty of points out there across the third quarter - including costly and uncharacteristic misses from Bont and Adam Treloar - Darcy has kept them within in a sniff.

A sniff ... get it ...

9.32PM: THE TON IS BROKEN

And it isn’t who you would think.

Remember, we have the likes of Bont, Fyfe, Serong, English, Darcy, Jackson [insert entire team lists here].

Needless to say, it’s a feast for the eyes for SuperCoach fans.

Anyway, here we are with the first ton broken and it’s Andy Brayshaw who sits on 101 points with one quarter and four minutes still to play ...

Owned by only 4,785 coaches, he’s averaging 106.7 at $584,700.

9.29PM: VINTAGE FYFE

We had vintage Danger tearing it out of the middle earlier today, and now here we are watching Fyfe accumulate 28 disposals already and add a goal to his tally to halt the stream of end-to-end action.

Bontempelli is also willing his team into the contest as usual, with 69 points to his name. SuperCoach wise, his tackles and efficiency hold him in good stead - he’s going at 69% efficiency from 20 disposals and has held four of his six attempted tackles.

9.20PM: SCOREBOARD REWARD

Sam Darcy gets his second, and it’s timely for the Dogs who have lifted their intensity. Once again, it’s deja vu as they struggle to convert their dominance into scoreboard pressure - but now they can take it back to the middle, and hopefully into the hands of the Bont.

Darcy sits on 58 points for his efforts.

9.12PM: TOP SIX FORWARD?

It has been a challenging year for SuperCoaches in terms of their forward selections, but the return of Sean Darcy could be a blessing in disguise.

While many traded Jackson out, those who retained him are reaping the rewards of his extra minutes in the forward half as he adds a second goal to his name.

He now sits on 67 points shortly after half time, and is benefitting from the hard work of Brayshaw, Serong and Fyfe.

HT: SuperCoach Analysis

SuperCoach stars have been everywhere you look in this game, from emerging rookies Sam Darcy (36) and Jeremy Sharp (20) to another strong performance from Bailey Dale (71) on the back of a 175 point performance last week.

It has been a tight contest, which is the perfect environment for SuperCoach scoring for both sides.

In particular, it shapes a great evening for owners of Sean Darcy and Tim English in the ruck as they sit at 22 and 17 hit-outs respectively, a truly mouth-watering ruck battle.

Pat Voss ($123,900) sits on 36 at half time after a solid debut so far including one goal, six disposals and four score involvements.

Score Leaders:

Sean Darcy - 76

Nat Fyfe - 72

Bailey Dale - 71

Caleb Serong - 70

Andy Brayshaw - 67

8.36PM: A SEA OF PURPLE

Pat Voss kicks his first career goal with a beautiful finish from his set shot. He is surrounded by a sea of purple as the Fremantle players converge on him while his family cheers from the stands.

Essendon’s VFL Best and Fairest last year, Voss seems to have found his feet nicely in the West.

8.35PM: END-TO-END

When I said end-to-end, I meant it.

Three lead changes in 14 minutes, and the SuperCoach stars have been everywhere.

Nat Fyfe (59) and Caleb Serong (60) look electric out of the middle, and Bailey Dale (59) chimed in for a goal of his own.

8.22PM: SIMPSON IN

The Dockers’ debutant, Cooper Simpson, is into the game.

It comes at the expense of Draper, who has been subbed out with a tight hamstring.

The Bulldogs have also activated their sub, with Caleb Daniel replacing Cody Weightman (elbow) as expected. Any further injury blows for either team will surely shape the end-to-end contest at hand.

QT: SuperCoach Analysis

Nat Fyfe has been immense in the first term with 15 disposals, rewarding the 83,727 coaches who are counting on a strong SuperCoach score from him tonight.

The ruckman have shaped the game too, with goals to English and Jackson while Darcy has recorded 16 hitouts and four tackles.

Sam Darcy, who is in 49% of sides, is slowly working his way into the game - yet he remains on 10 points.

Score Leaders:

Nat Fyfe - 47

Andrew Brayshaw - 45

Tim English - 41

Sean Darcy - 40

Luke Jackson - 38

8.12PM: WEIGHT-MAN DOWN

After an awkward fall, Cody Weightman has headed downstairs to have his arm assessed, clutching the same elbow he has struggled with in the past.

The blows continue for the Bulldogs, with a late goal to Josh Treacy, who has now kicked 12.3 from set shots this season.

Cody Weightman is assisted from the field in a big blow for the Bulldogs.
Cody Weightman is assisted from the field in a big blow for the Bulldogs.

8.06PM: DEJA VU

The Bulldogs have been outplayed in the first term, but their efficiency going forward has kept them in the contest - it’s like deja vu if you were tuned in the this afternoon’s game.

Just as I wrote that, Fyfe missed a set shot - I hope this doesn’t came back to haunt the Dockers like it did for the Blues.

8.04PM: DARCY TO JACKSON

Well - Fyfe started it. Another SuperCoach favourite. But the chain from Darcy to Jackson will have all SuperCoaches smiling. Jackson missed his set shot, but the attempt was there. It gives us a look at their plans for the future, and hints that maybe, just maybe, Jackson will continue his scoring ways despite being second string.

8.00PM: CAN DALE DO IT AGAIN?

Coming off a whopping score of 175 last week, Bailey Dale has a game-high 163 metres gained from eight disposals. He is leading the scoring for the Dogs with 28 points.

7.56PM: YOUNG’S TURN

Just as Hayden Young owners were getting nervous, he pops up for only the third goal of his AFL career. He was assisted by Caleb Serong, who has been on fire early - 10 disposals and 28 SuperCoach points already, beating out Bont (27) by one point.

7.43PM: JACKSON RISES

Thanks for making me look good, Luke. I said he would need to score to be influential in the SuperCoach teams of those who have held him, and he kicks the first goal of the game ... I think he pointed to me through the screen? No? Carry on ...

FT: SuperCoach Analysis

It all came down to that Jeremy Cameron goal - why do I harp on about scaling? He finishes on 118, which could well be scaled once more. If Geelong continue their electric potency heading inside fifty, Cameron should be on everyone’s SuperCoach shopping list.

When Acres kicked two in a row, the impossible seemed possible for the Blues, but it was his goal that ebbed the flow on the day he kicked his 600th.

Acres finished the game on 119 points, also courtesy of scaling after a valiant effort.

Gryan Miers was the top scorer of the day - a surprise packet when in the midst of Cripps and Walsh - owned by only 1,687 coaches.

27 coaches traded him out this week - I hope you’re doing okay.

As I mentioned earlier today, over 40,000 coaches traded out Zac Williams this round. When I first mentioned that, it seemed like a bright idea, but come games end, he scored 80 points - a solid day out. I hope you, too, are doing okay.

Cam Guthrie finished on 83 points, while Marc Pittonet managed 113 as the surprise of the day, owned by only 323 coaches.

Sam Walsh pushed for the ton right until the end, finishing on 105.

In the end, the Cats’ punish off turnover proved too much for the Blues who had the Cats’ number around stoppage all day. In what was a top-of-the-table clash, the quality of the game did not disappoint, but Carlton will be ruing missed chances across all four quarters.

Geelong on the other hand will only have one thing to worry about - or maybe two. Who will they beat next, and how will Dangerfield pull up from his hamstring concern?

The two teams meet again in only eight rounds time on Friday the 21st of June.

Score Leaders:

Gryan Miers - 127

Blake Acres - 119

Jeremy Cameron - 118

Patrick Cripps - 117

Marc Pittonet - 113

7.10PM: CRIPPS BATTLES ON

The Carlton captain records his second goal of the day to accompany 29 disposals, six tackles, seven score involvements and eight clearances. He leads the way for the Blues with 109 SuperCoach points.

Only a minute later, he sets up a goal for Matthew Kennedy - can the Blues push on for one last challenge?

Wow, now it’s Acres’ turn. A goal a minute would be needed, but it isn’t impossible, is it?

A reminder as always, any points from now will be scaled ... owners will be hoping the likes of Walsh, Cripps and Holmes can impact.

6.56PM: CATS BLAZE AWAY

Geelong’s accuracy has been immense. Their scoring has been potent - 12.3 from set shots says it all.

Tuohy, Cameron, Henry. Three straight Cats goals after three straight behinds for the Blues.

The story of the day.

They have been impressive across all facets and have scored 31 points from defensive chains - a season high.

Jeremy Cameron (104), Max Holmes (106) and Gryan Miers (122) have been the SuperCoach beneficiaries.

6.53PM: LIBBA OUT

The Bulldogs have suffered a midfield blow ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Fremantle in Perth with Tom Liberatore a late withdrawal due to illness, providing an out of favour Caleb Daniel with a senior recall. Liberatore entered concussion protocols after a late-game collapse in round 5 against Essendon, though he passed his SCAT 6 tests. He missed last week’s clash with St Kilda but made the trip to Perth to take on the Dockers.Daniel also made the trip west as a stand-by player, and he will come into the side for the match for his first game since round 4 against Geelong, having spent the past few weeks in the VFL.

3QT: SuperCoach Analysis

Carlton spearheads Curnow and McKay have catapulted themselves up the SuperCoach leaderboard with another stellar third quarter, but with the Blues unable to capture the lead, will it be enough to get their side across the finish line?

Curnow sits on 90, just ahead of McKay on 86.

Tanner Bruhn has lifted in the Geelong midfield, rising to 75 points with 11 kicks at 77% efficiency.

Carlton however, have an ace up their sleeve - is it time to take the Binns out?

Scratch that - they have! Binns comes in to replace Matt Owies.

Score Leaders:

Gryan Miers - 11

Patrick Cripps - 96

Max Holmes - 96

Charlie Curnow - 90

Harry McKay - 86

6.34PM: GOAL CITY

A lot has changed since my last update, what a game!

A massive contested mark and goal to Harry McKay lifts his score to 88, whilst Curnow provides the Blues’ second in a row.

Straight after the Blues’ fight back, Ollie Henry’s accuracy quells their hopes of hitting the lead with their third goal from a defensive 50 chain, once again impacted by Max Holmes.

Holmes sits on 89 points, but it’s Miers who leads the Cats on 105 points so far off the back of two goals and 20 disposals.

6.27.PM: INACCURACY SHIFTS

After the Cats succumb to inaccuracy for the first time today, the Blues are able to score through Elijah Hollands.

Three Cats behinds to two Carlton goals, but it’s Jeremy Cameron who once again saves the day to steady the Geelong ship with a major score.

Patrick Dangerfield will finish the day with 80 SuperCoach points, while Max Holmes continues to rise, currently on 89.

Holmes was instrumental in the Cameron goal with his electric and accurate kicking.

6.17PM: DANGER DOWN

Off balance as he changed direction, Dangerfield hobbled off the ground in what looked to be a fair amount of pain with a suspected hamstring injury.

In the mean time, Jack Carroll scored a ripping goal from long range, pushing his score up to 27.

7,785 coaches traded out the popular rookie this week, and it’s looking like the right move.

Patrick Dangerfield limps from the field in a massive blow for Geelong.
Patrick Dangerfield limps from the field in a massive blow for Geelong.

6.13PM: CAN THE BLUES BOUNCE BACK?

After conceding the first goal of the term off a turnover, a one-on-one victory for Jacob Weitering results in a Blues major score through Charlie Curnow - could this be what they need to ignite them?

Not if they’re going to keep letting Patrick Dangerfield run the ball out of the middle like that! The matchups at each end, and in the middle of this game are mouth-watering.

Cripps sits on 72 points whilst Dangerfield sits in 71.

HT: SuperCoach Analysis

It was a chaotic half of footy, with Carlton’s dominance resulting in no scoreboard reward. The Blues lead all major metrics, but the Cats continue to punish them and may rue missed opportunities early.

Max Holmes has been prolific early with 18 disposals, ten of which were kicks, and 71 SuperCoach points.

Carlton are missing the run of Adam Saad - will it be Zac Williams who can lift and provide a linking option for the Blues? Sitting on 33 SuperCoach points, it isn’t the worst score, but if he can involve himself in their forward half chains his return is sure to lift.

Captain Patrick Cripps (66) leads the way for the Blues on the back of 142 points last week.

Veterans Patrick Dangerfield (71) and Cam Guthrie (52) have driven the Cats forward, resulting in rewarding SuperCoach scores. The latter sits at only $420,800 and could be the perfect replacement for an underperforming Jack Steele or injured Connor Rozee.

He also took an absolute screamer, that would have garnered greater attention if it wasn’t for Jamie Elliott’s Mark of the Year contender only two days ago.

5.41PM: MAKING THEM PAY

Geelong continue to get it done, punishing the Blues at every opportunity. Twelve scoring shots from 19 inside 50s, nine of which have been goals.

Make that ten goals! They can’t miss.

Despite a swing to the Cats’ forward half, Zac Williams remains on a low score of 27, whilst Max Holmes is leading the way on 74 points.

5.34PM: JEREMY DELIGHT

His 600th goal. A champion of the game, every supporter at the MCG should be on their feet.

5.32PM: AGAINST THE GRAIN

The Cats’ last score from Henry highlights their ability to just make things happen. Carlton had 20 of the last 24 inside fifties, but ultimately, the Cats’ composure and cleanliness on the scoreboard kept them in front.

Marc Pittonet continues on as one of the best players on the ground

5.28PM: CATS CHAOS

The Cats are finding a spare man in their forward line with ease

Carlton have lifted their pressure factor to 201 this quarter, a rise from a low of 163 in the first. They are also leading the clearances 20-8, seeing Sam Walsh’s points increase to 40, but the Cats’ ability to find a spare man in their forward fifty continues to damage the Blues.

Carlton had registered the last two major scores, but Ollie Henry has broken the ice with an impressive yet controversial mark and conversion.

QT: SuperCoach Analysis

Popular trade-in Sam Walsh has had a quiet start SuperCoach wise, overshadowed by captain Patrick Cripps who is owned by only 4% of coaches.

Ollie Dempsey, owned by 23% of coaches, is having a hot start whilst Zac Williams is proving the 42,488 coaches who traded him out made the right decision.

Score Leaders:

Patrick Cripps - 45

Marc Pittonet - 45

Patrick Dangerfield - 44

5.03PM: DEKONING’S IN THE AIR

Tom Dekoning’s amazing mark inside fifty was soured by yet another behind for the Blues.

Carlton are leading inside fifty count by four, but have struggled in front of the big sticks.

A late fifty metre penalty to Jacob Weitering emerged as the perfect scoring opportunity, but he was unable to convert.

Fellow backman Zac Williams, a popular trade out this week, has recorded only eight points so far.

4.56PM: CRIPPS TAGGED

Geelong have scored 19 points from turnover at the time of writing, with Mark Blicavs adding to that tally. Blicavs has been sent to Cripps after his hot start, which has restricted his ability to get the handball out at stoppage.

The Cats remain accurate whilst the Blues have scored a major only twice from eight scoring shots, including a miss from popular SuperCoach trade-in Sam Walsh.

They will need to find a way to hold up the Cats’ speed and settle the game down if they want to rectify the difference on the scoreboard.

4.52PM: CAPTAIN PAT

Which one, you may ask. Why not both?

At one end, Patrick Cripps get his Blues back on track after early inaccuracy, keeping them in the contest.

Only a short moment later, Patrick Dangerfield found himself alone in their forward fifty, slotting his first major of the day to hand his side an eight-point lead.

It is set to be a mouth-watering battle between the two skippers, with Dangerfield sitting on 23 points to Cripps’ 29.

4.45PM: THE HEAT IS ON

Geelong have started hot, bringing the heat with their tackle pressure despite the Blues’ clearance dominance.

Having laid 10 tackles already, they are countering the Blues’ clearance dominance, which sees them leading the count 8-1.

The returning Cam Guthrie is leading from the middle with 28 SuperCoach points, while Marc Pittonet is the surprise leader for the Blues on 30 points on the back of a game-high 4 clearances.

FT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

Rory Laird and Jordan Dawson were the standout SuperCoach performers.

Dawson slowed down with just 44 second half points but a score of 127 is certainly far from a disappointment.

Laird had a monster second-half to finish on 149 points.

Laird could be on the consider bringing in given his $574,300 price tag is set to drop even further with a breakeven of 174. His monster score marked a bounce back after lowly returns of 80 and 74 over the past two weeks.

North’s Harry Sheezel was below his best but far from horrible with 108 points. One of the biggest stories of the match was Colby McKercher, who cracked remarkably cracked the ton with 102, rewarding those that stuck fat with him through a disastrous two weeks. Crucially for his owners, it has stopped his price from plummeting further as he was just two shy of his monster 104 breakeven.

Kangaroos ruck Tristan Xerri maintained his form with 103 points.

Turning to the cash cows, Xane Duursma was strong with 80, Charlie Comben rallied late to get to 61, while Tom Powell was very underwhelming with 49. Charlie Lazzaro only had 42 points and Bigoa Nyuon 46, while Zac Fisher scored well given his lack of opportunity as the sub with 20 points.

4:24pm: DON’T MIND THE POST

Talk about an eventful final few minutes.

Mitchell Hinge was poleaxed by the goalpost after being slammed into it, before the footy was carried over for a behind by Adelaide, with the umpire deeming there wasn’t sufficient pressure and handing a free to Charlie Lazzaro who aptly converted.

It was the kind of decision that would send debate into overdrive if it came in a close game, but fortunately that wasn’t the case.

It boosts Lazzaro’s SuperCoach score to 42.

4:16pm: THERE’S FIGHT IN THESE ROOS

If there’s positives to be taken out of this game from North Melbourne, one is that they won’t entirely roll over.

After the margin blew out to 70 North responded with three straight goals of their own through Cam Zurhaar, Zane Duursma and Luke Davies-Uniacke.

Zurhaar has three goals but could’ve had an even bigger day given he’s got three behinds as well.

4:06pm: THIS IS GETTING UGLY

Adelaide’s lead is now at 70 points and could only get bigger.

The Crows have kicked three goals on the trot in the fourth term.

3:55pm: ROOS SUB ACTIVATED

Zac Fisher will take to the field for North in the last quarter, replacing Will Phillips as the Kangaroos activate their sub.

It comes as a midfield move beckons for Harry Sheezel, who has started at the centre bounce to kick off the final quarter.

3:50pm: BINNS TO DEBUT FOR BLUES

Looking ahead to the bumper clash that awaits between Carlton and Geelong, Jaxon Binns is a late in for Carlton and will make his debut in place of Orazio Fantasia, who is set to miss with illness.

Binns’ debut has been a long-time coming. The second-year player enjoyed a stellar VFL season in 2023 to earn selection in the league’s team of the year and also claim Carlton’s VFL best and fairest award.

3QT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

This could get ugly for the Roos, who trail by 49 points with a quarter to play.

Jordan Dawson and Rory Laird have been the standouts for the Crows, with 110 and 105 points respectively.

Harry Sheezel and Luke Davies-Uniacke are also performing well with 84 and 80 points at the last break.

Kangaroos ruck Tristan Xerri is also enjoying a great game. He sits in 20,000 teams and has 80 points.

Charlie Comben also jumped to 52 points with a strong third quarter, while Zane Duursma has 56 and Tom Powell 42.

3:43pm: TONS GALORE

Two players have crossed the coveted SuperCoach century threshold inside the opening three quarter for Adelaide.

With three minutes to play until the final break Jordan Dawson has 105 points while Laird has 101.

Dawson has slowed down with just 22 points in the third term, but is enjoying a great game nonetheless

3:34pm: HE CAN’T MISS

Rankine has added another major to his tally mere minutes after the last. He now has four goals.

His latest was a superb drop punt finish from the opposite pocket to the last.

He bent the right foot kick left to right beautifully and loved it too, grinning ear to ear afterwards.

3:31pm: RANKINE HAS A THIRD

Izak Rankine is enjoying a strong match and now has a third goal to go with his 13 disposals to his name. Has also been rewarded with 63 SuperCoach points.

His set shot snap from the pocket handed the Crows a 40-point lead. He didn’t connect sweetly however and was lucky the goal-line was unmanned as the footy scraped over at chest height. Poor awareness from North.

3:22pm: LAIRD FINISHES

Adelaide is back out to a 39-point lead after Rory Laird slotted the first major of the second half.

Laird was the benefactor of some relentless forward 50 tackling pressure from his Crows teammates and neatly finished with a tight snap between a number of North defenders.

Laird is enjoying a strong game and had 16 disposals and 71 SuperCoach points.

HT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

Adelaide finished the second term in a flurry with three quick goals before Nick Larkey responded after the siren to keep North somewhat in touch. The Kangaroos trail by 35 at the main break.

Jordan Dawson has been one of the story’s of the first-half. He’s having a brilliant game and could replicate his monster 168 last week, sitting on 83 at half-time. It’s a huge result for the 7,791 coaches that traded him in this week.

Taylor Walker, Brayden Cook and Elliott Himmelberg have all enjoyed great games up forward for the Crows. Walker has been the puppet master behind so many Adelaide goals and is leading the match with nine score involvements including two goals and two goal assists. The trio have all surpassed 60 points.

Harry Sheezel is stringing together a typically great game off half back with 62 points as well.

Rookie Colby McKercher has also returned to form after two poor weeks and could well crack the ton.

Many popular North cash cows are disappointing however.

Charlie Comben has 29, Charlie Lazzaro has 23 and Bigoa Nyuon has 27.

Defensive North debutant Riley Hardeman, priced at $117,300, started the game strongly but has hit a wall. He has 25 points.

2:40pm: DAWSON GOES BANG

Many SuperCoach eyes will be fixed firmly on Jordan Dawson today after his 168.

He’s priced at just $533,600 in SuperCoach and those that traded him in look to have made a great move.

He launched a monster goal on the run from 60 metres out and already has 69 SuperCoach points inside the first half.

2:35pm: CROWS DEAL DOUBLE BLOW

North began the second term with promise, but to little avail. The Crows have since made them pay and have established a 28-point lead after a pair of goals in quick succession.

Brayden Cook nabbed a toe-poke on the goalline for his second of the game, before Chayce Jones converted superbly with a dead-eye drop punt.

My bold choice to tip North looks like it may backfire on me.

2:25pm: CROWS ACTIVATE SUB

Unsurprisingly, Adelaide has been forced into activating it sub early.

It comes after Luke Pedlar looked to have dislocated his shoulder in the first quarter. He could be seen on the bench looking dejected and wearing a jacket before the news was confirmed he was out of the match, with Ned McHenry entering the game in his absence.

QT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

The Crows lead by 20 at the first change of ends and have been the far superior side.

Izak Rankine had a hot start with three scoring shots and two goals and has 43 SuperCoach points to show for it.

Popular North defender Harry Sheezel has only been using the ball at 50 per cent efficiency but still has 26 points. A midfield switch could beckon for him later in the game.

An early goal helped Zane Duursma start well with 30 points to his name already.

As pointed out by our own Fantasy Freako, Tom Powell is yet to attend a centre bounce today. It hasn’t been detrimental to his scoring however as he still has 22 points.

Other popular North SuperCoach cash cows have been underwhelming to start. Charlie Comben has 13 points, Charlie Lazzaro has 11, and Bigoa Nyuon has 1o.

2:13pm: NORTH REPRIEVE

A costly Adelaide turnover in their defensive half handed North’s second goal of the game to Zane Duursma. The goal puts North within 16, but the Kangaroos are struggling early.

The clearances are dead-even but Adelaide has been far superior with ball in hand and are owning the territory. The Crows lead the inside 50 count 14 to 5 which details their dominance.

2:07pm: CROW INJURY CONCERN

Luke Pedlar appeared to be in serious pain. He was seen being helped from the field by a trainer holding his limp right arm, with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.

Adelaide has made a strong start against North and leads by 21, having conceded just one goal in the opening 90 seconds. There’s seven minutes to play in the quarter.

2:02pm: RACHELE’S CRAFTY ASSIST

Young Crow Josh Rachele came under fire last week after some poor marking efforts, extraordinarily culminating in what was effectively public apology on TV.

He’s responded well so far, delivering a brilliant goal assist highlight.

Hugging the boundary line and pressed for room, Rachele hand-passed through the legs of his opponent, darted around him and collected the footy before hitting Luke Pedlar lace out who converted.

1:55pm: SHEEZEL WATCH

We’re just five minutes of game time in and Harry Sheezel already has five disposals, correlating to 12 SuperCoach points.

There was much chatter pre-game about whether a midfield move awaits Sheezel today. North debutant Riley Hardeman plays off half back, while sub Zac Fisher has also been playing half back this season, so there’s every chance Sheezel is pushed into the guts at some point.

Against Sydney last year Sheezel played 50 per cent midfield time, and his numbers were down with 25 disposals but he had more impact with eight score involvements. The performance was worth 112 SuperCoach points.

He’s been in blistering form this season with an average of 127.3 so far.

1:49pm: STOP THAT TOM

North Melbourne found an instant reply to the Crows opener in brilliant fashion.

His running snap from long range soared extremely high in the air but bent back through the sticks beautifully.

The scores a tied a one goal apiece after 90 seconds.

1:48pm: RANKINE OPENS SCORING

Izak Rankine is the first player on the scoresheet as North Melbourne v Adelaide gets underway.

Rankine started in the centre bounce then pushed forward to get a handball receive from Taylor Walker at the top of the goal square and convert.

1:15pm:MCKERCHER INSIGHT

Despite having lost $30,900 last week, Young Roo Colby McKercher still sits in over 30 per cent of SuperCoach teams.

Scores of 6 and 34 have killed his cash generation, and with a breakeven of 100 coaches that still own him will be praying he can go nuclear to stop his price plummeting further.

Today is also a significant one for McKercher, as it’s his first game in his home state of Tasmania.

Ryan Rosendale wrote a cracking yarn on how the youngster has settled into life in the AFL, read it here.

12:45pm: SUB SHOCK FOR SUPERCOACHES

One of the most popular pre-season SuperCoach buys is set to start as North Melbourne’s sub against Adelaide today.

Kangaroo Zac Fisher is set to don the vest after a somewhat lean start to the season at half-back. His ownership was sky-high early in the year and the decision is a blow to the 14 per cent of SuperCoaches that have stuck with him.

Fisher has only managed one 100+ score all season and it came back in round two.

Ned McHenry will start as Adelaide’s substitute, and there are otherwise no late change to either side.
