Sydney is second on the ladder and Gold Coast is only out of the top eight on percentage after round 7 concluded on Sunday.
Meanwhile, West Coast’s two-game winning streak is over and Hawthorn has more questions to answer after kicking just five goals at the MCG.

YOU CAN’T KEEP A GOOD HEEN DOWN
Sam Mitchell made the brave call not to send tagger Finn Maginness to red-hot Swan Isaac Heeney from the opening bounce, but he reconsidered after the Sydney superstar picked up nine disposals in the first quarter. Maginness held Heeney to four touches in the second term but he got off the chain after halftime to finish with 21 disposals, three goals and his sixth SuperCoach score of 120 or better in seven rounds.
THE ELLIOT YEO SHOW
Elliot Yeo was everywhere early against Gold Coast, winning the first clearance of the game which resulted in a goal then kicking one himself to shoot to 30 SuperCoach points in less than three minutes of game time. That rate of scoring was always going to be impossible to maintain but he did a pretty good job, finishing with 138 points to continue his remarkable career resurgence. In fact, he is having a career-best year in his 13th season, averaging 118 points a game with five scores over 110. What a steal for those who started him at the bargain price tag of $447,100. Is it too late for the rest to jump on?
ANOTHER ROOKIE OFF SUNS PRODUCTION LINE
Gold Coast has delivered for SuperCoaches this year with a string of cheapies. Alex Sexton didn’t work out but Sam Clohesy has been a $102k sensation and Will Graham was excellent again in his fourth game with 12 disposals, 11 tackles and 87 points. And we might be picking another Suns cheapie after Jake Rogers dazzled with 22 touches, a goal and 98 points – he’s be on the bubble this week as a $148,800 midfielder. But bear in mind he plays as a small forward and scored only 28 points in his first game.
6:40pm:SWANS BY PLENTY, SUPERCOACH LEADERS
A percentage booster for Sydney which moves to second on the ladder at the conclusion of a very long round 7.
Ollie Florent finmishes as the top SuperCoach scorer on the ground; he’s owned by just 1 per cent of the competition – what a POD!
Brodie Grundy finished on 80 points, but he cost himself about 20 points by giving away four free kicks and a 50m penalty.
6:14pm: ANOTHER HEENEY SUPERCOACH TON
Isaac Heeney kicks his third goal for the afternoon and moves to 108 SuperCoach points – his sixth 100-plus score from seven matches this year (the other was 98 last week).
Chad Warner (119 points) and Dylan Moore (117) are the leading scorers on the ground.
The Swans have activated their sub, injecting Braeden Campbell into the game with 12 minutes to play. Justin McInerney is out (tactical).
6:00pm: THREE QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Just an eight-point quarter for Brodie Grundy – ouch.
But Isaac Heeney and Errol Gulden are heading for big scores as Sydney demolishes the Hawks.
5:40pm: WHAT TAG?
Finn Maginness held Isaac Heeney to four disposals in the second quarter but you can’t keep a good man down as he bobs up to kick his second goal of the day.
The Swans champ is up to 81 SuperCoach points.
Meanwhile, Hawthorn has activated its sub. Jai Serong is off for tactical reasons and Max Ramsden is into the game – replacing a tall defender with a tall forward. Will that spark the Hawks?
5:15pm: HALFTIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Dylan Moore is having a brilliant game for the Hawks, logging 16 disposals and a goal in the first half.
Lloyd Meek got on top of Brodie Grundy in the second term with the help of some Grundy angry pills – he has now given away three free kicks plus a 50m penalty, which led to a Meek goal.

4:55PM: INJURY ALERT
Will Hayward has gone down to the rooms to be assessed after limping off following a marking contest.
Meanwhile, Sam Mitchell has broken glass and deployed tagger Finn Maginness to try to shut down Isaac Heeney. The Swans star has 11 disposals, a goal and 52 SuperCoach points late in the second quarter.
4:53pm: GRUNDY BRAIN FADE
Brody Grundy has been all over Lloyd Meek early but he didn’t appreciate being called for a free kick after what looked like miminal contact in a ruck contest in the centre square.
He whacked Meek in frustration and made a bad situation worse as the umpire paid a 50m penalty – worth -8 points in SuperCoach – and Meek dobbed the goal.
4:50pm: THINGS ARE GETTING UGLY
Sam Wicks bangs his second goal into the second tier after getting out the back and it’s now nine goals to two. The Swans have taken 42 marks to Hawthorn’s 14 for the game.
Warning lights are blinking everywhere in Sam Mitchell’s coaching box.
4.40pm: MOORE ON FIRE AS ERROL SINGS
Dylan Moore has been electric to kick off this game despite the Hawks’ woes, while Errol Gulden’s long-range goal has helped him to 43 points.
Brodie Grundy has 31 points to his name for those who held him, and Sicily 33 for those who kept the faith.
Isaac Heeney was overlooked in two important contests late in the quarter, including where Tom Papley snared a mark out of his arms to convert after the siren, so could have far more points to his name.
However, early in the second he converts a free kick from beyond the arc.
Matty Roberts has just 19 points.
4.30pm: HAWKS GOAL DISALLOWED
After the Swans kicked two in a minute, Jack Scrimshaw had a shot from 50 metres, but while the ball was in the air Mabior Chol gave away a free kick on the goal line.
The goal sailed through the middle but wasn’t counted.
The Swans whipped the ball down the other end and into the waiting arms of Joel Amartey, who dutifully goaled.
Swans are up by 19 points now and things are looking ominous.
4.20pm: PARKER READY TO GO
Sydney didn’t unleash Luke Parker this week at AFL level, but they gave him a run in the VFL. He proved he hasn’t lost his touch and could well come in next week after a strong display.

Dylan Moore tonned up last week as he looks like he could be back and after a quiet patch, especially with with the forward line looking barren. He’s won a free kick and goaled, taking him to 31 points with 11 minutes to go in the first.
Brodie Grundy has 17 points, Heeney 13.
4:08pm: HAWKS DRAW FIRST BLOOD
Reborn forward Blake Hardwick has the first goal of the game at the MCG.
James Sicily is on fire early with six disposals and 17 SuperCoach points.
3:45pm: SUNS WIN, FULL-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
The Suns put the foot down late to keep their unbeaten home record this season alive.
Jarrod Witts continued the trend of rucks scoring big against the Eagles while midfielders Noah Anderson, Touk Miller and Matt Rowell were all huge. Elliot Yeo faded a bit after a blazing start but you’d still be rapt with his score.
Sam Clohesy finished on 65, Will Graham scored 86 and the Suns put another rookie on the radar in livewire forward Jake Rogers, who had 22 touches and a goal. He’s on the bubble this week!
3:25pm: SUNS ACTIVATE SUB
Gold Coast has subbed out Bailey Humphrey. David Swallow comes on with 10 minutes to play in his 227th game.
The Eagles are doing enough to keep Gold Coast a little nervous, cutting the margin to 24 points with plenty of time left.
3:10pm: HAWKS MAKE LATE CHANGE
The team sheets are in for the final game of the round and Mitch Lewis is a late out for the Hawks.
Max Ramsden is his replacement and he will start as Hawthorn’s sub.
Braeden Campbell is Sydney’s sub.
3:05pm: THREE QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
Elliot Yeo is still putting up a fantastic score but he isn’t getting much help from his teammates – where’s Harley Reid when you need him!
The Suns’ A-grade midfield are all rising to the top.
Sam Clohesy has 46 points after his injury scare that quarter.
3:00pm: ROWELL GOES BANG BANG
Matt Rowell breaks the game open with two goals in a minute in the shadow of three quarter time.
He’s a SuperCoach weapon – cracking 100 points from just 14 disposals.
Those two goals help along with eight tackles, 11 contested possessions, six clearances and five frees for.
2:53pm: SUNS TAKING OVER
It’s been all Gold Coast this quarter, leading the inside-50 count 14-5 and kicking four goals to one to open up a 21-point lead.
The Eagles have subbed out Campbell Chesser, injecting Dom Sheed into the game.
2:33pm: SUPERCOACH ALERT: CLOHESY HURT
Bad news for more than 115,000 SuperCoach teams minutes into the third quarter with Sam Clohesy heading down to the Gold Coast rooms with an arm injury.
The mature-age rookie, who has been a revelation since making his debut in round 4, was in the middle of a pack of players that flew from all directions for a high ball in the middle of the ground.
He has 33 SuperCoach points.
UPDATE: Clohesy is back out there after a quick visit to the rooms, marking on the wing and sending the Suns inside 50.

2:15pm: HALFTIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
It’s the Elliot Yeo show – 10 disposals, nine contested possessions, six tackles, two score assists and a goal.
Noah Anderson and Touk Miller are having huge games but super rookie Sam Clohesy is struggling with just 33 points at the main break.
2:00pm: STAT WATCH
Noan Anderson leads the stat sheet halfway through the second term with 17 disposals but Elliot Yeo (74 points) and Touk Miller (70) are flying in SuperCoach.
Matt Rowell is also up and going with 55 points thanks to eight disposals and five tackles.
1:37pm: QUARTER-TIME SUPERCOACH LEADERS
The Suns steadied the ship after the early West Coast blitz with Jarrod Witts on track for an absolutely huge SuperCoach score. Elliot Yeo and Touk Miller have also made great starts.
1:20pm: ROWELL WATCH
Halfway through the first term Matt Rowell has zero disposals, one tackle and three SuperCoach points. Not what we expected!
1:06pm: YEO TIME
Elliot Yeo strikes again, snapping a goal from a boundary throw-in in the forward pocket.
He has 30 SuperCoach points less than three minutes into the game!

1:02pm: GAME ON
We’re away at People’s First Stadium on the Gold Coast and the Eagles are on the board first, with Bailey Williams marking a big Elliot Yeo clearance.
Yeo is having a fantastic season, averaging 114.5 SuperCoach points a game and rising in value by over $127,000 coming into round 7. Well done if you started him!
12:30: HUGE DAY FOR SUPERCOACH
How’s your team tracking this weekend?
After many teams got off to a flying start with Max Gawn as captain or vice-captain way back on Wednesday night, things went a bit pear-shaped with popular stars like Jack Steele underperforming and the reality of best 22 scoring hitting home with poor rookie totals now included in our weekly scores.
The most owned player in the game, Harley Reid, is being rested today but there are still some huge names in action including Brodie Grundy (in 55 per cent of teams), Sam Flanders (52 per cent), Isaac Heeney (46 per cent) Touk Miller, (23 per cent) and Matt Rowell (21 per cent) – plus rookies including Sam Clohesy, Will Graham and Matt Roberts.
