SCANS have confirmed Adelaide defender Angela Foley has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

The acting captain landed awkwardly during the third quarter of the 2021 AFLW Grand Final and took no further part in the game, the Crows losing 6.2 (38) to 3.2 (20) to Brisbane Lions.

Crows head of women’s football Phil Harper said the club would do everything to assist the former Waratah star over the coming months.

“Ange is a highly respected leader, teammate and friend, and we are devastated for her,” Harper said.

“She will now meet with the surgeon and is expected to undergo an operation in the coming week.”
