STAR Wanderers product Ronald Fejo showed he will be a talent hard to ignore come AFL Draft time after an impressive performance for the Allies against South Australia on Sunday.

The Allies were on the end of a heavy 19.10 (124) to 4.8 (32) defeat at Adelaide Oval, but Fejo was among his team’s best.

And he will take plenty of confidence from this outing into his AFL Combine assignment, also in Adelaide, on October 16.

Fejo will participate in that event alongside Nightcliff Tigers talent Andy Moniz-Wakefield.

Gold Coast Suns Academy prospect and former Waratah star Ned Stevens will participate in the AFL Combine in Queensland on October 10.

Moniz-Wakefield also impressed alongside Fejo on Sunday, as well as other Territory stars Jamie Jones, Brodie Lake Beau Tedcastle, Jaedan Watts, Mishai Wollogorang and Will Rowlands.

Lake – a Southern Districts product who impressed for Peel Thunder at WAFL level – was unlucky not to get drafted last year. He was also among the Allies’ best.

But it was Fejo who put his hand up and bolstered his AFL claims on Sunday.

“Ronald was among our top six players and he has a lot of natural ability, but it’s also the work he does off the ball which is impressive,” Hargraves said.

Fejo played 16 reserve matches before debuting for West Adelaide in the SANFL this year.

And Moniz-Wakefield – who was a first-year sensation at Premier League level for Nightcliff last season – is continuing his rapid rise in the game.

“Andy did his draft hopes no harm, particularly with his first half,” Hargraves said.

“You could say his development over the past 12 months has been rapid.

“But we’ve been looking at him the past three years in our Academy program.

“He had an ACL injury (playing in the Under-16 National Championships in Blacktown in 2019) a couple of years ago and did well to recover from it.”

Stevens and Jack Peris were also selected for Allies, but could not travel due to Covid-19 restrictions. Sandy Brock was also selected, but then ruled out due to injury.
