Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has signalled his intent to mount a football comeback after posting a black and white video complete with an ASAP Rocky soundtrack.
The former No. 1 pick posted a video compilation of himself running and boxing to Instagram and TikTok on Tuesday with the caption “we into it”.
To a comment urging him to “please come back” to football, Ugle-Hagan responded: “coming x”.
The Rocky-style montage drew a wave of excitement on social media, but a Western Bulldogs spokesperson said there had been no change to Ugle-Hagan’s period of leave away from the club.
A Herald Sun report last month revealed Ugle-Hagan, 23, had ventured north to an interstate health retreat in a positive step towards returning to his football commitments.
The video was posted as a collaboration with a Byron Bay-based personal trainer business, Byron Boxing.
The Bulldogs declined to comment on the video.
Coach Luke Beveridge said last month he had not been in contact with the forward during his absence, but held hope that “Jamarra goes really well in this period of finding himself both in life and then in the game”.
The 197cm left-footer has kicked 78 goals in 45 games since the start of 2023 and could restart his career at a new club next season if the Bulldogs were satisfied in a trade.
Hawthorn and Sydney champion Lance Franklin, an idol of Ugle-Hagan’s, said in April he had no doubt the Bulldogs forward would “fit in really nicely” with the Swans’ current list.
