Gruesome injury: Swan Isaac Heeney reveals horror result of ankle surgery

Warning: This is not for the faint of heart. Sydney Swan Isaac Heeney has revealed the gruesome results of his ankle surgery in a graphic Instagram video that will leave you a little squeamish.

There’s a good reason why Isaac Heeney won’t play again in 2020.

The star Swan, who wrecked his ankle in his side’s loss to Richmond a fortnight ago, has shown off the graphic results of surgery on his Instagram page.

It looks like something Dr Frankenstein might be proud of, with several incisions and a huge number of stitches keeping it all together after his ruptured medial ligament and tendon tunnel were repaired.

Coach John Longmire last week confirmed he would miss the rest of the season and he will now wear a moon boot for the next eight weeks.

“Isaac works so hard on his game, he plays a lot of the time with all sorts of injuries no one would know and he is as hard as,” Longmire said.

“When he went down with an injury after the game I knew it was significant because he is tough.”
