Lions veteran Dayne Zorko will miss another of Brisbane’s pre-season scrimmages as he continues to recover from a torn hamstring.
Zorko had been sidelined for the Lions’ two intra-club trials in the past two weeks, but the Lions had hoped he would return for Brisbane’s practice match with the Swans in Sydney on Friday.
However, despite Zorko saying the recovery was “going really good”, he won’t travel to Sydney.
“I had a scan earlier today, actually,” Zorko told SENQ’s Pat And Healsshow on Wednesday.
“Hopefully the tear is all healed up and if that’s the case, then I should return to full training next week and hopefully it’s all systems go from there.
“It certainly feels really good. The rest of the body is holding up sensationally, so fingers crossed this tear is healed and I can proceed.”
Zorko, who last week gave up the Brisbane captaincy, said defender Darcy Gardiner (shoulder) also wouldn’t travel to Sydney.
While Gardiner is expected to remain on the sidelines until Brisbane’s round one clash against Port Adelaide on March 18, Zorko is hopeful of being available for the Lions’ pre-season match against Geelong next Thursday night at Brighton Homes Arena at Springfield.
