Darcy Fogarty inks massive extension with Adelaide Crows, tying him to club until 2031

One of Adelaide’s biggest stars has inked a huge contract extension after being offered one of the longest current deals in the AFL.

Trade Recap: Adelaide Crows

Adelaide forward Darcy Fogarty wants to finish as a one-club player after inking a six-year contract extension.

Fogarty, who already had a deal for next season, re-signed until the end of 2031 on Tuesday.

It is a show of faith for the Crows in the 25-year-old, who is coming off a career-best campaign.

Added to the leadership group for 2024, Fogarty went on to kick 41 goals and finished fifth in the best-and-fairest count.

The Lucindale product was excited to commit his future to the Crows.

“I love the club and feel we are heading in an exciting direction,” Fogarty said.

“The club has put its faith in me and I’m excited to repay them and continue the journey with my teammates.

“I’d love to finish my career a one-club player.”

Fogarty’s new deal is the longest of any Crow.

Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee, star GWS defender Sam Taylor, St Kilda forward Max King, Richmond swingman Noah Balta and Western Bulldogs high flyer Aaron Naughton are the only players on deals beyond his, all secured until 2032.

Adelaide has always had high hopes for Fogarty.

After they selected him at pick 12 in 2017, the Crows handed the Glenelg draftee the No. 32 guernsey worn by club greats Mark Ricciuto and Patrick Dangerfield.

Fogarty played 10, four, 10 and 17 AFL matches in his first four campaigns, kicking nine, nine, eight and 24 goals.

He improved his consistency in 2022, booting 33.14 from 17 appearances, then added 34.23 from 21 games last year.

Fogarty now sits 17th on the Crows’ all-time majors tally with 158 from 102 matches.

“No career is without its challenges and I feel like I’ve made some real growth in my first 100 games,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 100 hold.”

Crows list boss Justin Reid said Fogarty had grown significantly since arriving at the club, particularly over the past two seasons.

“His ability to work up the ground, his contested marking and finishing as one of the more reliable set shots in the competition make him a very important part of our forward line,” Reid said.

“He embraced the opportunity to step up as part of our leadership group this year and his form was recognised with a top-five placing in our cub champion award.

“We are very obviously thrilled that he’s committed his long-term future to the club.”

Fogarty would have entered next season as one of the leading key forwards in the free agency pool.

Adelaide’s remaining free agents at the end of 2025 are: veterans Taylor Walker, Matt Crouch and Brodie Smith, ruckman Reilly O’Brien, half-back Wayne Milera and small forward Lachie Murphy.
