Andrew Brayshaw hailed as one of the ‘best in the comp’ as Fremantle down Hawthorn

Fremantle have taken the AFL by storm this season and it’s all stemming from the rise of one young gun who continues to wreak havoc.

Fremantle are the real deal in 2022.

The men in purple took care of business once again, downing Hawthorn 14.11 (95) to 12.10 (82) to move to 10-3 on the season and equal top spot on the ladder.

The surging Dockers welcomed back superstar skipper Nat Fyfe, but his return was overshadowed by the stellar play from young gun Andrew Brayshaw.

Brayshaw has elevated his game in 2022 to meteoric heights, going from one of the best young midfielders to a genuine threat to claim the Brownlow Medal.

Currently sitting third in the betting markets for the ultimate player honour, Brayshaw produced another blistering display to likely seal up another three-votes.

Brayshaw ended with 37 disposals as he covered every inch of the ground, but it was his goal in the fourth quarter that really put the cherry on top.

With a tick over five minutes left to play and the Dockers holding a slender six-point lead, Brayshaw emerged and showed off his soccer skills to drive home the dagger.

The outing stole the limelight away from Fyfe who finished with 21 disposals and a goal to his name in his return.

Social media was left in awe of the stunning display.

“Andrew Brayshaw finished the game with 37 disposals, including 13 in the final quarter and an important goal. He’s gone from one of the best young midfielders in the competition to one of the best players in the past three months. You wouldn’t swap him for many players,” RSN radio host Adam White wrote.

SEN’s Nic Negrepontis wrote: “Another 3 Brownlow votes for A. Brayshaw.”

ABC Sport’s Poppy Penny wrote: “Give Andrew Brayshaw the keys to the city.”

The loss for the Hawks has them sitting 13th on the ladder, holding a 4-9 record in what has been a season full of promise but far too often sees them fall short.

Both teams will have the week off next weekend thanks to the bye.
