Carlton star Tayla Harris has declared the Blues will be “dangerous” when the AFLW season starts in February after finally getting back to training with her teammates.

The VFLW season and all other women’s winter competitions were cancelled due to COVID-19, but Carlton hasn’t missed a beat since returning to training.

Harris, a two-time Blues leading goalkicker said she and her teammates had “whatever we needed” to keep training during the extended lay-off.

Carlton’s shot at a maiden premiership was cut down when coronavirus pandemic ended the 2020 season in March, just before the Blues were to face North Melbourne in a preliminary final.

But Harris said off-season trading, including the addition of two-time All-Australian midfielder Elise O‘Dea in from Melbourne, gave her high expectations for 2021.

“It was a difficult and unheard of time (during isolation), they (the fitness staff) just made it work,” Harris said on Tuesday.

“I don‘t know how they did it, but we’ve come back (fit); we’re dangerous.

“I think we’re going to be so well represented in leadership and experience and enthusiasm and even just fun on the field. I wouldn‘t have wanted to be another team this year because we’re looking pretty good.”

Blues coach Daniel Harford said he had already put last season behind him.

“They came back really energetic, fresh and ready to go once we hit the track, which has been two or three weeks now and it’s been fascinating,” Harford said.
