AFL Round 15 teams: Collingwood name debutant to help Brodie Grundy, Carlton makes three changes

Collingwood’s new cult hero Max Lynch will make his AFL debut on Friday, and the Magpies announced the news with a joke about his mullet and a very left-field take on a first gamer video. Check out the full Round 15 teams.

Collingwood will lighten the load on superstar ruckman Brodie Grundy when young big man Max Lynch makes his debut against Brisbane Lions.

The Magpies on Thursday selected the 200cm Lynch to replace Darcy Cameron, who was dropped after a one-possession performance in the win over Carlton on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Lynch from Murray Bushrangers has become a club favourite with his larger than life personality and social media offerings.

It has become tradition for AFL clubs to release video of young players being told they are making their debut, and the Magpies followed suit on Thursday — with a twist.

A video of coach Nathan Buckley revealing the news was accompanied by a series of Lynch’s weird behaviour, and accompanied by a joke about his incredible haircut.

“Mate you’ve still got your mullet, but you don’t need your dream anymore. You’re in,” Buckley said.

“You’ve earned this opportunity mate. You’re more than ready for it.

“It’s a big game for us and we know you’re going to come in and give us your strengths and attributes and your energy.”

The Magpies also welcomed back Levi Greenwood in place of injured wingman Chris Mayne who faces at least three weeks out with a fractured cheekbone.

Brisbane surprisingly dropped Alex Witherden to make room for star playmaker Daniel Rich.

Lions’ first-year forward Keidean Coleman was brought in for suspended forward Lincoln McCarthy.

THREE CHANGES FOR BLUES’ LAST ROLE OF THE DICE

Carlton has regained forward Mitch McGovern among three changes for Thursday night’s must-win clash against Greater Western Sydney at Metricon Stadium.

After last round’s loss to Collingwood, McGovern comes into the team for his first match since Round 8 after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Sam Petrevski-Seton, who was rested against the Magpies, and Matthew Cottrell also come into the Carlton line-up.

Skipper Patrick Cripps has been named after hurting his knee late in last Sunday’s loss to the Magpies. He was cleared of structural damage.

The Giants have made just one change, bringing in Jeremy Finlayson for the injured Josh Kelly.
