The results are in.

After AFL analyst Mick McGuane ranked every club’s defence, midfield and forward groups, we’ve pooled the results to see who has the best overall squad entering 2025.

For each category, the team ranked No. 1 was awarded 18 points, down to the team ranked No. 18 being awarded one point.

After the total points across the three lines were added up, reigning premier Brisbane Lions finished on top of the overall rankings.

However, there were some surprises in the top-eight – and bottom-four.
