Sydney premiership players from their famous 2012 grand final triumph are making a comeback this weekend.

Players and staff from the pulsating win over Hawthorn will be honoured on the field with a lap of honour ahead of the Swans’ Round 8 clash with the Suns at the SCG.

The club legends will also be involved in pre-match interviews and will form a guard of honour when the team runs onto the field to face the Suns.

However, the 10-year premiership reunion will be also be a busy weekend off the field for the former players with events scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.

Swans champion Adam Goodes and his wife Natalie will be attending the Friday night private function at a Sydney pub and will also be attending the formal event on Saturday night.

The two-time Brownlow medallist will not be present during the on-field festivities at the SCG.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Goodes’ decision to skip the on-field ceremonial part of the reunion is simply a case of having a previously-organised family engagement.

The 372-game champion famously kicked the match-winning goal in the fourth quarter in the 2012 grand final — having previously suffered a serious knee ligament injury.

It is just one of many reasons why the club awards the runner-up in its best and fairest award the Adam Goodes medal. The club champion is awarded the Bob Skilton medal every year.

Meanwhile, Swans fans will also have an opportunity to take a photo with the 2012 Premiership Cup.
