SHOCKING photographs have emerged of rogue fishos shooting crocodiles in what are believed to be Top End waters.
The men filmed one of the crocs as it was dying after being shot twice and the water is stained with blood.
One of the photos features a white Toyota Landcruiser with a Northern Territory registration, and others clearly identify two men.
One hunter is crouching proudly with a rifle beside a small saltie.
They could face fines up to $72,000 or up to five years in prison.
The photos were found in Katherine and have been handed to police.
One man, who did not find the pictures but handed the photos to police, said: "I really did feel it raises the issue that we've redneck idiots out there destroying country and wildlife".
"They shot that croc with a solid shotgun and were laughing about it and this thing was drowning in its own blood," he said.
The man, who declined to be named, thought the pictures were taken in a Darwin creek.
"It definitely looks coastal to me - you can definitely see mangroves there," he said.
"It's definitely around the Territory.
"I've been around the traps - I'm an indigenous man. I'm a hunter and I shoot what I eat."
The photos were taken on the Friday and Saturday of June 17 and 18, 2011.
Permits allowing people to "interfere" with native wildlife can be obtained from Parks and Wildlife.
But strict conditions about how and where are set, including those for the disposal of carcasses.
Anyone with information about offences about wildlife can contact Wildlife operations on 0401 115 702 or police on 131 444.
