A SPRAWLING slice of beachfront paradise is up for grabs with a massive property in South Mission Beach hitting the market – and opportunity has rarely looked this good.

Lugger Bay, known to locals as Lover’s Beach, is a 4km return trip on the Kennedy Walking Track from the southernmost end of South Mission Beach.

It is a dazzling location with golden sandy beaches and ultimate isolation with an iconic 68ha freehold site accessed by the gated Lugger Bay residential development.

The property itself is ripe for development opportunity for investors or anybody who can round up 11 friends ready to make the leap to the promised land.

It has frontage to the Lugger Bay beach, of course, but also extends to the Turtle and Kennedy bays.

Colliers marketing agent Stacey Quaid said the site was recognised as one of the most desirable addresses in the coastal holiday powerhouse of the Cassowary Coast.

“The property provides a unique opportunity in the region having an established development approval for subdivision into 12 rural acreage lots, with a residual balance lot of approximately 35.2ha and a separate common property area which is to include a designated conservation area, as well as potential for alternate use,” he said.

“This sort of opportunity is seldom available on the open market and we would expect that there would be interest from those seeking the ultimate north Queensland trophy home site.”

The property, with more than 2.4km of shoreline frontage, has stunning views from the adjoining Hull River National Park to the Coral Sea and the Family Islands group – which includes no fewer than 12 tropical islands including Dunk and Bedarra, just a few kilometres off the coast.

“This spectacular one-off holding provides many options for the future owner with an abundance of natural features including majestic forest clad sites, watercourses, sandy private beaches and commanding elevated views of the coastline and mountains,” Mr Quaid said.

“The property is largely undeveloped but has sheds, water tank, steel cattle yards and fenced stock paddocks.

“The existing approval provides exciting options, but there could be a higher use for a holding of this rarity, subject to obtaining further approvals.”

The property, Lot 2 Explorer Dr in Mission Beach, is being sold on instruction of McGrathNicol after its appointment as receiver for more than 100 Mission Beach properties after the collapse of Mayfair 101 last year.

Expressions of interest close on October 28.
