Parents and carers have been put on alert after four strangers reportedly approached young children on their way to a Top End school.
In a message from Jingili Primary school parents were warned that a number of children were approached by four strangers at Killian Park, 350m from the school gate.
“We received a report from a couple of our students that a white Toyota Ute stopped … and four people got our of the car and went towards the students,” it said.
“The students ran to the school and reported it straight away.”
Jingili school in a statement said the incident was reported to police, but they had reminded parents to discuss safety steps with their children.
“We’ll be reminding our students about stranger danger and the importance of making sure if they see or hear anything, they report it to either school staff, their families and, or police,” it said.
The school said staff would “continue to be vigilant”, particularly around school pick up times.
Police and the school have been contacted for further comment.
