A new mobile learning centre – and a giraffe – will bring respectful relationship education to about 1500 Alice Springs students.

Life Education NT’s new initiative aims to reduce schoolyard bullying, harassment, and violence – the program also extends to non-school relationships.

Executive director Terese Hooper said the mobile learning centre would travel to six schools and teach kids about effective communication, consent, recognising disrespectful behaviour, and empathy.

She said teaching children about consent and boundaries would lay the foundation for healthy relationships later in life.

The mobile learning centre is equipped with interactive resources and activities.

Healthy Harold and his team will also teach kids about nutrition, personal hygiene, safety, and resilience.

Ms Hooper said the curriculum was tailored to meet the needs of Alice Springs children and would tour Larapinta Primary School, Living Waters Lutheran School, Braitling Primary School, Yipirinya School, Tennant Creek Primary School, and Katherine School of the Air.

“We are thrilled to introduce a new Mobile Learning Centre to support the reach of the Life Ed program to children in Alice Springs,” Ms Hooper said.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to providing accessible and engaging health and wellbeing education, empowering young Territorians to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.”

The facility was gifted to Life Education NT by Cooloola Noosa Life Education Association Inc. in Queensland.
