Donald Trump has lashed out at Ukrainian leaders, accusing them of expressing “zero gratitude” for US efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

US, Ukrainian and European officials have met in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss Donald Trump’s controversial 28-point proposal to halt Russia’s war with Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters he felt “very optimistic” after a day of talks, declaring a “tremendous amount of progress” had been made.

His comments came after Mr Trump earlier lashed out at Ukrainian leaders, accusing them of expressing “zero gratitude” for US efforts to end the nearly four-year war.

The US President has given Ukraine until Thursday to approve his peace plan, the implication being that US support for Ukraine could otherwise be cut or withdrawn.

The proposal would require Kyiv to cede territory, cut its military, and pledge to never join NATO.
