Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day guest list
The President-elect has hand-picked an interesting array of people to attend his inauguration day. See who’s on the exclusive guest list.
United States
Don't miss out on the headlines from United States. Followed categories will be added to My News.
An eclectic array of the most interesting and powerful humans on the planet have been hand-picked by soon-to-be US President Donald Trump to attend his inauguration day.
The big day will be a somewhat cosier affair due to being relocated from the sprawling West Front Lawn to inside the Capitol rotunda on account of potentially deadly weather conditions which will see temperature in Washington DC plummet to -12C.
But it does make for even more interesting viewing in terms of who will get one of the coveted – and now very limited – spots inside.
Those on the D-list won’t miss out, with Mr Trump organising the sheltered Capitol One Arena to view the ceremony live from the stands.
Here’s our guide to who’s going to the inauguration.
AUSTRALIANS GOING
Foreign Minister Penny Wong
Ambassador to the US Kevin Rudd
Mining billionaire Gina Rinehart
Packaging billionaire Anthony Pratt
Former treasurer and ambassador Joe Hockey
WORLD LEADERS
Mr Trump was never one to overly bother himself with tradition and so he has taken it upon himself to invite a swath of world leaders despite there being little precedence for their attendance.
Sharing a conservative political leaning with Mr Trump seems to be the main criteria for an invitation rather than being an ally or neighbour of America.
The Presidents of Italy, Argentina, Brazil and El Salvador are all expected to make an appearance as is Reform UK politician Nigel Farage.
The leaders of neighbouring Mexico and Canada are noticeably absent from the guest list, as are key allies like UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
FORMER PRESIDENTS AND FIRST LADIES
While former First Lady Michelle Obama has reportedly reached the end of her tether with Mr Trump and will be sitting the inauguration out in Hawaii, most other ex occupants of the White House will attend.
Her husband Barack Obama is going as are Joe and Jill Biden, George W Bush and his wife Laura and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
TRUMP CLAN
Mr Trump has a big extended family and (almost) the whole gang is expected to attend.
This includes his ex-wife Marla Marples who attended his first inauguration and was a vocal supporter of Mr Trump throughout his campaign.
All of his children and most of their spouses will be there along with his beloved granddaughter and fellow golfer Kai.
Current wife Melania and their son Barron, 18, will be front and centre.
Barron will take a break from his university studies at NYU in New York to support his dad.
Despite quitting politics, former adviser and daughter Ivanka will be there with her husband Jared Kushner.
Pregnant daughter Tiffany and her husband Michael Boulos will be there as will son Eric and his wife Lara.
The only exception will be Donald Junior who is expected to attend without his new influencer girlfriend Bettina Anderson on his arm.
However, Don Jr’s former fiance Kimberly Guilfoyle has been invited – and she’s even sharing a gown designer with Lara Trump.
Mr Trump is obviously still very fond of the woman who almost became his daughter-in-law and he has named her ambassador to Greece.
Ms Anderson, on the other hand, is reportedly yet to ingratiate herself with the family.
MUSICIANS
Mr Trump has a varied array of musical talented lined up to perform at both the ceremony itself and at the various inauguration balls later that night.
We expect Mr Trump to bust out some of his now iconic dance moves when the Village People – who supported opponent Kamala Harris but agreed to perform in order to “bring the country together with music” – play one of his favourite tunes, YMCA.
Vocal supporters Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus and “Try That in a Small Town” hit maker Jason Aldean are also set to take the stage.
American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and rapper Nelly will also bust out their hits despite neither of them previously supporting Mr Trump.
Trump supporting rapper Kanye West, who is married to Australian architect Bianca Censori, is tipped to attend but is not expected to perform.
On Friday Snoop Dogg – an outspoke Trump critic – had the crowd at the official pre-inauguration Crypto Ball pumping.
SPORT STARS
The same man who put a fist in the air and chanted “fight, fight fight!” while covered in blood following an assassination attempt has a certain type when it comes to his favourite sports personalities.
UFC boss Dana White UFC will be a guest of honour along with the Paul brothers Logan and Jake.
Logan Paul is a WWE wrestler while Jake Paul is a boxer who rose to prominence after beating Mike Tyson in their recent Netflix bout.
HOLLYWOOD
Perhaps the biggest household name to attend the inauguration will be Tinseltown legend Sylvester Stallone.
Stallone was named along with fellow actors Mel Gibson and Jon Voight as Mr Trump’s envoys to Hollywood.
While the other two are tipped to make an appearance, neither have confirmed publicly.
TECH GIANTS
Is the world’s greatest ever unofficial tech symposium?
Mr Trump’s swearing in will see an unprecedented gathering of genii who head up the world’s biggest tech companies.
The list – which includes a healthy smattering of billionaires – comprises Apple’s Tim Cook, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, X and Tesla’s Elon Musk, TikTok’s Shou Zi Chew, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Uber’s Dara Khosrowshahi.
