A top official has revealed that US political activist Charlie Kirk’s shooting suspect is not co-operating with investigators.

Accused assassin Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah local, is being held without bail in a Utah jail on several charges including aggravated murder, according to officials.

In a series of interviews on Sunday morning talk shows, Utah Governor Spencer Cox said that Robinson’s romantic partner, as well as his family are all co-operating with the FBI investigation into Mr Kirk’s killing.

“It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” Mr Cox told the Wall Street Journal in an article published on Saturday.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Robinson had been living with his unidentified transgender lover at a home in Utah.

“The roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to female,” Mr Cox said.

“This partner has been incredibly cooperative [and] had no idea that this was happening. And, he’s working with investigators right now.”.

New details of the investigation came after Mr Kirk’s widow delivered a direct message to US President Donald Trump — as she broke down in a live address to the world.

Later she also shared intimate images and videos of her and her late husband’s body as he lay in his coffin.

“World is evil,” she wrote alongside a deeply personal post on Instagram.

It comes as US officials have captured the man accused of killing Mr Kirk after a family member helped to turn him in after a frantic manhunt.

“We got him,” Mr Cox told a press conference on Friday morning local time.

Earlier, Mr Cox said Robinson was arrested after relatives contacted a friend, who then contacted the police.

Anti-fascist slogans were engraved on two of the unused bullet casings found after the assassination of Mr Kirk, Mr Cox confirmed.

The gunman fired a single, fatal shot killing Mr Kirk – a 31-year-old who rallied youth support for Mr Trump – during an appearance at a Utah university on Wednesday.

Hundreds of agents from across 20 law enforcement agencies were involved in the hunt.
