PM urges ‘respect’ as Hamas agrees to peace deal
Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong have reacted to the Gaza truce deal, with the remaining Israeli hostages expected to be freed within days and the IDF to withdraw troops to an “agreed upon line”.
Israel and Hamas have signed off on a peace treaty that will see October 7 hostages released, Donald Trump has announced.
The US President said the warring countries had agreed to the “first phase” of his peace proposal after days of negotiations in Egypt.
“This means that all of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace,” Mr Trump announced.
“All parties will be treated fairly!”
“This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”
The White House has indicated the President could visit Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt in the coming days where negotiators have been hammering out a deal between the warring parties.
