Disturbing revelations have emerged about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bodyguard — especially given their advocacy for women’s rights.

The bodyguard working for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been labelled a “wife beater” following revelations he choked his wife until she was “seconds away from death”.
Pere Daobry, an ex-Metropolitan Police officer, was photographed alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they left Frogmore Cottage earlier this month.
The 6ft 7in bodyguard was convicted in 2016 after attacking his partner, Sarah Jay, in what has been described as an “appalling” and “savage” incident, The Sun reports.
The domestic violence revelations are expected to stir up controversy given Meghan Markle’s strong advocacy for women’s rights and domestic abuse.
The royal couple’s charity, Archewell Foundation, donated money to a domestic violence charity just last year.
According to the Mail Online, citing an unnamed source, if the Sussexes knew of Daobry’s dark past they would think twice about his role.
“When you consider how outspoken Meghan is on women's issues it’s quite amazing that a bodyguard with that sort of background has been employed,” the source said, according to the publication.
“His wife Sarah went through a really traumatic time with him and I'm sure if Meghan and Harry knew the full story they wouldn’t be at all comfortable with him being employed as their bodyguard.”
Daobry was not sentenced to serve time behind bars as magistrates claimed he had shown a level of “decency” by calling emergency services after his wife became unconscious, The Sun reports.
At this stage it is not known whether the security guard was paid for by the Duke and Duchess, and if they were aware of his conviction.
