A Perth father has died after he was electrocuted in a tree lopping accident.

Mika Tua, originally from New Zealand, was electrocuted when his tools hit high-voltage power lines while cutting down trees in Maida Vale, in Perth’s east about 1.30pm on Tuesday last week.

Paramedics attended the scene but were unable to revive the 29-year-old father-of-three.

Friend Angelene Sua-Sagapolutele has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his grieving family.

“No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why,” Sua-Sagapolutele said in a touching tribute on the GoFundMe page.

Tua leaves behind his wife Shirley, also originally from New Zealand, and their three children MJ Luea, Liliu-Aoina and Jahziel.

“This young family is now facing the immense tragedy of this sudden loss, carrying heavy hearts and enduring irreparable grief,” Sua-Sagapolutele said.

“Losing a loved one is never easy, but losing someone unexpectedly creates a wound that time cannot heal.”

Sua-Sagapolutele said the father was the only source of income for the family.

“The funeral expenses, coupled with their current circumstances, are overwhelming,” she added.

As of Monday afternoon, more than $5000 has been fundraised for the family to help with funeral costs and everyday expenses.

“Thank you in advance for your support and kindness towards Shirley and her family during this tough period. God bless you,” Sua-Sagapolutele said.

“Mika Tua will be deeply missed by his wife, children, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
