The moment a woman was confronted by a knife-wielding boy demanding her car in an apparent broad daylight robbery has been captured on video.
The footage, understood to have been taken at about 6.40pm on Wednesday, showed a group of youths running down Harvey St in Darwin City.
One youth in a red shirt stops to throw an object at the window of a parked car, before then pulling the driver’s seat door open.
Yelling can be heard before a woman, the driver, exits the vehicle and walks from the scene.
A few seconds later, a boy confronts the woman and holds a blade to her as he demands for her keys.
“Give me your car! Give me your car! Right now!” the boy can be heard yelling.
Off screen, a man can be heard reporting the situation.
“There is a kid threatening a lady with a knife and they’re stealing their car right now.”
The knife-wielding boy and the red shirt clad youth both enter the vehicle – which lets out a hard rev.
“They can’t even drive it,” a woman off screen says.
The youths then get out of the vehicle and run.
It is understood that the vehicle was a push-start, which could only be driven if the keys were in range.
In a statement, NT Police confirmed officers were called to a second incident around 10.30pm in which it is alleged the same alleged offenders approached a taxi parked at a service station on the corner of McMinn and Daly St.
The alleged offenders allegedly assaulted the driver with a blunt weapon and demanded the vehicle keys be handed over.
Police alleged small items were stolen from the vehicle before the alleged offenders fled by foot.
The alleged victim was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
Police confirmed they had arrested two boys aged 13 and 14 and two boys, aged 11.
The teenagers remaining in custody are expected to be charged on Thursday.
The two 11-year-olds were conveyed into the care of a responsible adult and the matter referred to Territory Families.
