TOP End footy fans will be treated to a rare spectacle tomorrow when Central Desert cousins Liam Jurrah and Liam Patrick line up for Wanderers against the Darwin Buffaloes.

The two Liams are likely to fill key forward posts in the inaugural Nungalinya Cup match, incorporated into the 2019-20 NTFL draw through both clubs’ history with the Larrakia country and the Bagot and Belyuen communities.

Yuendumu’s Jurrah (36 games with Melbourne) and Lajamanu’s Patrick (13 games with the Gold Coast Suns) have both played at the elite level.

Jurrah has become a journeyman footballer in the NTFL, turning out for playing stints with the Alice Springs Redtails, Tiwi Bombers and Palmerston before telling Wanderers defender Mitchell Taylor he wanted to make the Eagles his fourth Top End club.

Former Port Adelaide utility Marlon Motlop will add a third string to the AFL flavour when he lines up for his first game in a Wanderers jumper for three years.

Wanderers coach Shannon Motlop spoke to Jurrah yesterday and is confident the “Warlpiri Wizard’’ will bring something special to his side.

“Liam doesn’t look very fit, but we’ll see how he goes on matchday and if he kicks his three goals he has done his job,’’ Motlop said.

“Everybody and not just my blokes, have waited a long time to see both of them play together and we’re looking forward to that happening this week.

“Our guys have played with a lot of AFL players, but Liam’s just an excitement machine and his work with Liam Patrick should be worth the admittance feel alone.

“Speaking to him I can sense he is super keen to play with his cousin and we’ve been waiting seven rounds to get him in our side, so we expect something to happen out there.’’

Tomorrow’s 5pm clash is vital to both sides with the Christmas break only a month away.

Fourth-placed Wanderers are half a game clear of the Buffaloes in the top fie, a second round draw with Southern Districts separating the two sides.
