Woman walking pram mauled by dogs in Sunbury

A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being knocked to the ground and mauled by three dogs, as she walked her baby in a pram in Sunbury on Friday afternoon.

A woman who was taking her baby for a walk in a pram was knocked to the ground and mauled by three dogs in Sunbury on Friday afternoon.

The 35-year-old was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by the dogs on Withers Close.

A spokesperson from Victoria Police said the woman managed to protect her baby while under attack and the dogs have since been captured.

“Police have been told the woman was pushing a pram with a toddler when she was approached by three dogs and attacked just after 3pm,” police said.

“During the attack, the woman managed to roll the pram and the child was not injured.

“Police assisted local law officers and all dogs have been seized.”

A photo uploaded to a Sunbury Community Facebook group of three dogs on the loose on Thursday afternoon.

It follows a 71-year-old woman being attacked by a pack of three dogs on Heysen Dr on Thursday, less than 400m away from Friday’s attacks.

It has not been confirmed that the same dogs are responsible for both attacks.

The 71-year-old was also knocked to the ground before being set upon and received serious injuries to her face, back and legs and she remains at Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Two men who helped stop that attack suffered minor injuries.

A photo was posted to a local Sunbury Facebook group of three dogs loose on the streets which the poster claimed are responsible for the Thursday attack.

Hume City Council has been contacted for information about both attacks and if they are believed to be linked.
