A woman who miraculously survived a balcony fall is alleged to have stolen a stranger’s car in a desperate bid to flee a man in Melbourne’s outer east.

A woman miraculously survived a balcony fall before allegedly stealing a stranger’s car in a desperate bid to flee an apartment building in Melbourne’s outer east.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she crashed the allegedly stolen grey Mazda nearby.
Police are investigating the terrifying incident which unfolded in Wantirna South at about 8am on Sunday.
It’s believed the woman ran towards oncoming traffic after falling from the second-storey of an apartment building on Stud Rd.
Police were told the woman was running from a man that was chasing her in a white Holden Captiva.
It’s believed the pair are known to each other.
In a desperate bid to escape, the woman ran towards oncoming traffic on Burwood Hwy.
Good Samaritans rushed to the woman’s aide, including a man who had pulled over to assist.
But the injured woman is alleged to have stolen his grey Mazda when he got out of the car to help her.
“When he got out of the vehicle, the woman got in and drove off,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
The man was not injured and reported the theft to police.
A short time later, the grey Mazda crashed into bollards outside a fire station on Maroondah Hwy.
The female was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with footage, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
