Seven’s head of sport and managing director of Melbourne Lewis Martin is among the senior executives let go by the media organisation as it battles to reduce costs.

Another high-profile name to walk was Kurt Burnette, chief revenue officer, according to The Financial Review.

It comes after media reports revealed last week that the media giant would axe 150 jobs.

The move was prompted by the challenging advertising market conditions admits the cost-of-loving crisis, coupled with tech giant Meta ending its multimillion-dollar deals with Australian media companies.

The cost-cutting move to axe jobs was announced by then-CFO Jeff Howard and former CEO James Warburton in February.

Seven has reportedly declined to comment.

The redundancies also come in the wake of the Seven’s Spotlight saga.

The show’s ex-producer Taylor Auerbach claimed the media company reimbursed accused rapist Bruce Lehrmann for the cost of sex workers and cocaine before he signed an exclusive interview deal with the network.

Spotlight’s interview with Lehrmann aired in June 2023.

It lead to executives linked to the show leaving.
