Magnitude 1.7 earthquake hits, no major damage reported

Geoscience Australia has confirmed a magnitude 1.7 earthquake hit 4km below the surface of Croydon.

An earthquake has hit Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Geoscience Australia confirmed that a magnitude 1.7 earthquake hit 4km below the surface of Croydon at about 7pm on Monday.

While the tremor was acknowledged on social media, no major damage was reported and no emergency calls were made.

Officially, only two reports were made to Geoscience Australia.
