As the school holidays arrive, keeping the kids busy can be a challenge for all parents. But why just let the kids have fun?
Luckily, Melbourne is known for its entertainment and is sparing no expense with a number of activities running over the two week break for the whole family.
To kick off day one, here are three activities across the city, suburbs and regions worth attending.
CITY
A full day of family fun, all for a great cause.
The annual Kids Day Out is turning the Melbourne Convention Centre into an exciting and adventurous fun-fest on Good Friday, and it’s bringing plenty of entertainment for everyone.
Activities for the kids will be running all day, budding young scientists are encouraged to try their hand at some messy experiments with Fizz Kids and the ever popular Teddy Bear Hospital is back and bigger than ever.
Carnival rides, a performance stage, face painting and an array of costumed characters will also be found around the grounds.
Grown ups have not been forgotten about either, with a classic cars display provided by The Thunderbird Owners’ Club.
Rebecca Cowan, Executive Director of the Good Friday Appeal is expecting a full house on the day.
“We expect more than 80,000 people return to enjoy a day of family fun, all with the aim of raising funds for a world class hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital.” Ms Cowan said.
Kids Day Out will be running from 10am-5pm on April 7, for more details go to https://www.goodfridayappeal.com.au/kids-day-out-23/.
SUBURBS
One of the most egg-citing Easter activities is almost here and you better be ready to fill your baskets.
From Friday, families are invited to hop on into the Wild About Wellbeing Farm in the Yarra Valley for their first ever Easter Festival and the ultimate Easter egg hunt.
As well as finding their favourite chocolate eggs, children can enjoy mini tractor tours, pony rides and a new outdoor play area, all while learning the ins and outs of farming.
“At our farm we’re all about people knowing where their food comes from, we have a lot of baby farm animals that kids can pet and cuddle,” farm owner Ben Mould said.
“We’re also opening our farm-focused agricultural playground with tractors, mowers and motorbikes, plus the egg hunt which will be really exciting.
“There’s plenty of wine and wood-fired pizzas for the parents to enjoy too.”
Tickets are available online and visitors are encouraged to check the website for updates with the weather.
