Broadmeadows and Hadfield homes sprayed with bullets in linked machine gun attacks
A man has been captured on CCTV blasting two houses with a machine gun in what police believe is a linked attack.
Two houses in the northern suburbs have been blasted in linked machine gun attacks.
The properties were sprayed with bullets in dead-of-night incidents at Broadmeadows and Hadfield early on Saturday morning.
Police were called to a home in Holberry St, Broadmeadows, just before 1am after multiple shots were fired.
CCTV obtained by Seven News showed a man repeatedly fumbling with a machine gun before finally getting it to work and opening fire.
A resident on the Broadmeadows street said that they mistook the noise for “fireworks” but quickly realised that “it sounded like shooting.”
The same person said that the home was targeted by gunmen last Friday.
“Police confirmed it’s not a random thing,” they said.
“It’s just attacking or intimidating one person.”
The person also said the street was full of families and that they were “worried” about the violence.
Soon after, the same shooter is suspected of travelling to Hadfield where up to 15 rounds struck a home in Richard St.
Residents of the house in Hadfield declined to speak to media.
No one was injured at either property and the gunman left both scenes in a vehicle.
The motive for what happened is not yet clear.
“A crime scene has been established at both addresses and investigators believe both incidents are linked,” a Victoria Police statement said.
