The creator of a smash-hit book turned Netflixshow is bringing his latest theatre production to Townsville.

As part of the 2024 North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA), Townsville’s Civic Theatre will host Trent Dalton’s Love Storiesfor eight nights from October 4 to 11.

The annual festival turns Townsville into an art, music and culture hub, with visitors flocking to the city providing an economic boost.

Inspired by personal experience, author and journalist Trent Dalton, who is widely known for Boy Swallows Universe, spent two months in 2021 at a street corner in Brisbane’s CBD with a 1960s typewriter asking everyday Aussies one question; ‘Can you please tell me a love story?’. Dalton then collated the stories into a book titled Love Stories.

Much like the success of the global hit book-turned-TV show Boy Swallows Universe, Love Storiesis being brought to life and is set to premiere at Brisbane Festival before coming to Townsville.
