One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and come July 19 residents will be able to decide between what’s what.

The annual Combined Motor Clubs Motor Show and Swap Meet will go ahead this year, with COVID-19 restrictions allowing for large outdoor gatherings, and organisers are hoping to add to the $20,000 already donated to Ronald McDonald House Charity.

The event has been a staple since 2015 after taking a seven-year hiatus, with everything from cars, boats and motorcycles to related literature, tools, and memorabilia.

The ultimate goal of the event is to bring various bits and pieces out of hiding, while supporting a charity that spends all donations locally.

Organiser John Weber said you never know what you might find.

“A chap last year drove his ute there, towing a trailer with a truck on it that he was trying to sell,” he said.

“He sold the truck, and halfway through the morning someone came along wanting to buy the truck, and he said ‘it’s already sold’.

“He said ‘what about the ute there?’ They agreed on a price, the bloke went off and got the money and drove it home. The seller had to then catch a lift home.”

It’s hoped residents will relish the opportunity to get out and about following a long lockdown.

Swap sites are $10 for a 10x5m area and admission is $5 for those over 15 years old.
