Townsville’s military greats are being recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list for their top-notch work in the Australian Defence Force.

Leading the charge is Brigadier James Davis CSC, who’s been awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his stellar service in shaping the Army’s future.

Brigadier Davis has shown incredible leadership as the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Director Chief of Army’s Initiatives Group, Director Joint Futures and Concepts, and Director General Future Land Warfare.

His visionary work has been key in revolutionising the Army’s structure and strategy, laying the groundwork for Defence’s future objectives.

Another local hero, Warrant Officer Class Two Brenda Smith, has been awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal (CSM) for her meritorious achievement as the Unit Welfare Officer of the 10th Force Support Battalion.

Her tireless dedication to supporting soldiers and their families through complex and demanding welfare situations has made a significant impact on both serving and ex-serving soldiers.

Her efforts have also bolstered the reputation of the Australian Army within the wider veteran community.

Warrant Officer Class Two Anthony Campbell has also been honoured with a Conspicuous Service Medal (CSM) for his exceptional achievement as a Squadron Sergeant Major in the 2nd Cavalry Regiment.

Over a three-year period, Warrant Officer Campbell excelled as the Squadron Sergeant Major of two sub-units, demonstrating a dedication to soldier career development, tactical proficiency, and leadership.

His contributions have greatly enhanced the Australian Army’s armoured capability and logistics survivability, setting a high standard for excellence.
