A 19-year-old has left a court shocked after the cocktail of drugs that were found in his system when he crashed his car into a pole were revealed.

Dylan Mark Heath appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday after he admitted to consuming drugs before getting behind the wheel of his Holden Commodore earlier this year.

Police prosecutor Kimberley Rogers-Ford said while a drug breath test showed up negative results, a sample of his blood uncovered methamphetamine, MDMA, MDA, Diazepam, Nordazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam, cocaine, Benzo and methylergometrine.

The teenage rigger who was still only on a probationary licence had crashed into a power pole on Lindeman Avenue at 1:50am.

“As Your Honour has heard me try to pronounce, there are a number of drugs in (Heath’s) blood,” Ms Rogers-Ford said.

Magistrate Cathy McLennan interjected and said she was surprised he hadn’t been charged with a more serious offence.

“I have never seen anyone with this many drugs in their system,” she said.

“I’ve been a magistrate for 10 years and three months, I’ve never seen one with many drugs in their system and these drugs do opposite things. You are going to really muck up your brain.”

The prosecutor said Heath had been lucky that neither he or anyone else was injured.

She also told the court Heath had been ticketed that same day for driving without due care and he had been given $800 in fines.

When given an opportunity to speak, Heath who represented himself said that he hadn’t taken drugs since.

Her Honour asked the teen if he were close with his mother to which he replied yes.

“I have two 19-year-old boys and I can tell you now if anything happened to my kids I would never have a happy moment anymore,” she said.

“Your mum, you would give her a lifetime of despair if anything happened to you. I hope it’s true when you say you’re not taking drugs anymore, this is just silly.”

Heath’s dad sat at the back of the court and said his son had “turned a corner” and now worked for him.

The teen pleaded guilty to drug driving while on a probationary licence.

He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for six months. Convictions were recorded.
