Queensland Police Service confirmed that a 17-year-old male had made the audacious attempted escape after a plane had landed in Townsville about 3.40pm on Thursday, May 30.
“He located a pair of scissors and assaulted a civilian employee, who received minor scratches to his back,” a QPS spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday.

It is understood the incident did not involve a commercial flight but was a private police charter.
QPS said the juvenile was charged with one count each of escape by persons in lawful custody, entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, trespass on Commonwealth land and obstruct police.
He was refused bail and will re-appear in Townsville Children’s Court on June 11.
