Townsville criminal lawyer Jamie Scuderi wins Doyles Guide rising star award

A Townsville lawyer representing an accused murderer has again been named one of Queensland’s top emerging criminal legal eagles.

A Townsville lawyer representing an accused murderer has again been named one of Queensland’s top emerging criminal legal eagles.

Jamie Scuderi, a senior associate at Purcell Taylor Lawyers, has been named on the Doyles Guide list of Queensland’s Criminal Law Rising Stars for a third-straight year.

She said she it was nice to be recognised but believed “the real rewards came from making a difference”.

“It’s always nice to achieve recognition, but personally, using my knowledge and experience to see the law applied in an appropriate manner to achieve justice is what it’s really all about,” Ms Scuderi said.

She is currently representing Caleb Rutherford, who is accused of murdering Josh Hyde in Ingham on January 10, 2021.

In July last year, the former prosecutor successfully argued that a soldier who crashed his car more than four times over the legal alcohol limit not be convicted of driving under the influence.
