Townsville crime: Two charged after alleged robbery of Pimlico petrol station

Townsville Police have charged two people following an alleged armed robbery at a petrol station in Pimlico.

Townsville Police have charged two men after an alleged armed robbery at a petrol station in Pimlico on Monday morning.

A 67-year-old Garbutt man and a 47-year-old Jensen man have both been charged with armed robbery and enter premises to commit and indictable offence.

A third man, who was also arrested at the scene, is assisting police as investigations continue.

Both men are due to appear in the Townsvillle Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Townsville Police have arrested three people following an alleged armed robbery at a petrol station in Pimlico.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman alleged that a man armed with a fake handgun entered the station of Palmerston Street and demanded cash before fleeing in a waiting vehicle at 8.45am on Tuesday morning.

“Around 9.45am, police intercepted the vehicle on Kings Road, Pimlico and arrested three men,” she said.

“One of the men was allegedly in possession of the handgun, which police identified as a gel blaster.”

The QPS spokeswoman said that nobody was physically injured during the incident and that the investigation was ongoing.

The service station has since reopened.

Ampol confirmed that it did have a fuel distribution contract with the servo but did not own it.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman said QPS was yet to make any arrests in relation to the allegedly violent, high-profile home invasion in Mount Louisa in the early hours of Sunday morning.
