Townsville crime: Stolen cars crashed, found in lake, set ablaze in busy 24 hours

Multiple stolen cars have been crashed, dumped and set alight across Townsville within 24 hours including one involved in a nasty crash right in front of the Welcome to Townsville sign.
Police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen white Toyota sedan at the intersection of Woolcock and Mather St around 11.20am on Thursday.
Police said no one was injured in the crash and the driver in the stolen car left the scene on foot before he was found and taken into custody shortly after.
The Toyota sedan was stolen from a property on Saint Albans Road, Mount Louisa overnight.
It comes after police recovered another stolen vehicle in Lake Idalia at around 4.15pm on Wednesday, July 10.
Initial investigations reveal that the grey Kia Rio was stolen from a residence on Patrick Street, Aitkenvale, at 10.30pm on Tuesday.
Police said they found the vehicle abandoned in the lake with no occupants.
In addition to the Kia Rio, police said the unknown offenders also stole a silver Toyota Corolla, which remains active.
Police are searching for this second vehicle and urge anyone with information to come forward and contact them.
It comes after residents in Kirwan woke up on Thursday to find a stolen car had been torched along Willowbank Dr.
There have also been reports of two vehicle fires near the industrial area in Bohle overnight.
