The force is growing stronger, with phasers set to stun for the Townsville Pop Fest, which lands at the Townsville Stadium on June 9.

Apart from characters from Star Wars, this year’s second annual Pop Fest will be populated with a host of superheroes, trekkers and an array of fantasy and gaming personalities.

Event organiser Graeme Hone from Hone Events said the Pop Fest promised pop culture in paradise and fun for both young and old.

“It’s pop fest. Yep, you name it, and it’s a good costume. Somebody will turn up in costume there,” he said.

“Anything to do with pop culture, like the Marvel or DC Comics, lots of anime and also anything that the young kids like in video games today like Fallout.

“Our mission is to create an immersive experience for fans, celebrate creativity, and foster community engagement.

“This year, we are proud to support Veteran Gaming Australia as our charity partner, with $1 from all ticket sales going to them.”

He said tickets for the event were still at the early bird price but they had sold 300 already.

“This is our second year for the Townsville Pop Fest, and this is our seventh event that we’ve run in city and we’ve got people coming from all over Australia.

“We’ve got a tattoo artist coming up from Sydney, and we’ve got Captain Patch, who does all your cosplay repair.”

He said some of the highlights would be the cosplay competition, live tattooing, workshops and panels and pop culture markets.

Tickets start at $20 with Children under 4 years free. For more information and to buy tickets go to: www.ticketebo.com.au/hone-events/townsville-pop-fest-2024
