Krispy Kreme’s Townsville has been unveiled, opening it’s doors for hundreds on Friday.
Councillor Brodie Phillips and Glen ‘Minty’ Mintern joined staff in cutting the red ribbon on Friday morning, officially opening the store for the community to enjoy.
The Bulletin had a chance to go behind the scenes and into the franchise’s Townsville store, including a lesson on the history of Krispy Kreme’s production line.
Krispy Kreme Townsville store manager Brandon Ballard said the machinery was able to produce more than 100 doughnuts hourly
“We call [the machine] our 110 Line, basically it’s made to produce 110 dozen per hour” he said.
“On average, this store will make about 4,000 doughnuts per day.”
“Australia has the biggest line in the Southern Hemisphere in Victoria, which does 600 dozen.”
Those at the sneak peek were able to try a hot glazed doughnut, fresh off the production line.
“Once you have a hot glaze, it changes everything,” Mr Ballard said.
