The search for missing North Queensland teen Tea Wright-Finger has entered a critical stage as new footage reveals the final moments before her disappearance.

Ms Wright-Finger, 19, was last seen in Richmond on October 16, when a friend of the young woman dropped her at a 4WD that is believed to still be in her possession.

She was reported missing to police two days later and an extensive, community-supported search of the surrounding scrubland was conducted until the end of October.

Townsville Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said the vision was from ‘just over an hour’ before she was last seen.

“She was at the Richmond Roadhouse, then was dropped back to her vehicle by a friend,” Inspector Shepherd said.

“The other significant part of the investigation is the location of her vehicle, which is a Blue 2013 Toyota Prado.”

The vehicle, which was last seen with Queensland license plates reading 210-TLA was obtained ‘fraudulently’ from a Proserpine residence in the weeks leading up to Ms Wright-Finger’s disappearance.

We are very concerned for her safety and family’s obviously very concerned,” Inspector Shepherd said.

“But I’m still optimistic. We’ve had no evidence to suggest that anything suspicious has happened, but likewise, we’ve had no confirmed sightings of her since October 16.”

Investigations are still continuing into how the vehicle was obtained on October 8.

“What I want to reiterate, if Tea sees this, is that that’s something that can be sorted out in the future,” Inspector Shepherd said.

“She did find out the day before that the owners of the vehicle knew where she was. There was a phone call made to the station from Proserpine, so there is a chance that was the reason for her taking off. That’s just one theory at this stage.

“It’s nothing overly serious. Being a missing person isn’t a crime. The police and her family just want to know that she’s okay.”

Inspector Shepherd said it was ‘promising’ that the vehicle hadn’t been located, and that the investigation was now extending over state lines, with inquiries being made in the Northern Territory at a rural station Ms Wright-Finger had previously worked at.

“Primarily we’re looking around Queensland and the Northern Territory, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t travelled to another state. She obviously has experience working on stations and by their very nature, they’re quite remote.”

Inspector Shepherd urged anyone who had sighted or recognised Ms Wright-Finger to contact police via Crime Stoppers, even if doing so anonymously.

“We’ve got a relatively good picture of her movements up until the point she disappeared, but the actual information incoming since she disappeared has been quite limited.”
