Thousands of spectators gathered trackside over the weekend seeking their Supercars thrill and enjoying time with family and friends as the track roared to life.

While an electric display of motor racing is what drew many to the 2024 NTI Townsville 500, there was something for everybody whether or not they were a motor head.

Families took advantage of the clear Saturday sky to explore the event taking in the display of iconic and unique display cars at Torque alley, as they got the best view of the track with a helicopter flight or stared in awe at the aerobatics and drift show.

One spectator Jake Healy said that he had spent the most part of Saturday at the race, taking full advantage of having such an exciting event in his hometown.

“It’s so good for Townsville to have the Supercars here, I feel like we don’t really get too many events like this and especially ones with heaps of different things going on like the concert and shows,” he said.

“It’s awesome to see everyone enjoying it as well. I’ve seen a lot of families that have come through that are really just sitting down and relaxing and enjoying the day.”

Mr Healy said that one of his favourite parts of the day was watching Hayden and Mitch Pullen aerobatics and drift jaw dropping display.

“It’s incredible what they do, I loved watching it. You wouldn’t find me getting up there anytime soon, but to see them flip and turn like they did was amazing,” he said.

“I’m also looking forward to the concert tonight, the line up is so good so I think everyone is stoked to have such amazing performers here and ready to listen to some awesome music.”

The Supercars spectacular finished with a bang with performances from internationally known music stars G Flip and Tones and I.
