Shocking near miss for scooter rider in Townsville

A Townsville man in high-vis barely avoided being crushed by oncoming traffic, as he zoomed through a red light in full view of a video camera.

Posted into the Everything Townsville Facebook group by Daniel Grimmond, he called it a contender for the ‘Darwin Awards’, a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that natural selection weeds out less intelligent people when they behave stupidly.

The intersection appears to be near Stocklands in Aitkenvale.
